I have been lusting after a Louis Bolle watch for several months - the Solstice. Comes in black or white face. I prefer the black, but the white is awfully handsome, too, and probably easier to read. 40mm; saphire crystal; retrograde date and day of week; open heart; beautifully decorated movement.![]() Trouble is, it keeps going for astronomical prices on eBay. The black recently went for $500 + and I won't pay that much (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8937670342&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1). Patience, however, sometimes pays off, as I just scored the white for $83. Yeah, the black is gorgeous, but for $400+ diifference in price, I can easily settle for the white. Kinda blows my mind, however, that people are willing to pay that much more for the black. ![]() Life (and eBay) is strange. Jim

Personally I would rather have the silver, that is just me. You did a good job, a lot better than I could do. The silver dials are a lot quicker to read for me in every situation. Last edited on Tue May 30th, 2006 11:57 am by e.avery |

That black dial is nice, but I would go for the silver myself.

If you're serious, I can watch for another one and either let you know there's one up for bid, cheap, or I can do the buy and send it along. Would need to know your max bid. I believe there is one on a "buy it now" for under $120. Jim O.A. Gaspar wrote: Congrats Jim...You are Either the Luckiest or Most Patient Man I know

I would NEVER pay more than $125 for one of these watches. My guess is that the $500 auctions are being artificially pumped up by someone related to the listing. These watches have Chinese movements (I own another LB model). They are decent watches, but they are NOT NOT NOT $500 watches.
