Got a new Aviator Flying Tank today (in replacement) after a failed attempt to get my original order. It is quite nice. Oddly, this one doesn't have a screw-down crown (ok with me though). The Invicta is quite impressive. It is very robust and feels quite heavy in my hand. It looks to be very nicely made and it has a solid looking screw-in (exhibition) case back. The bracelet even has solid end pieces. I can actually read the date too. The crown is a bit too small, but I guess you can live with that considering the price and how well this appears to be made. I have to tell you, this is a lot of watch for the money you can get it for right now on Overstock.com. I should note that the lumn is not much considering this is a dive watch. It is more acceptable as a dress watch, but not enough for a dive watch. And, on mine the bezel DOES turn very smoothly gripped with tumb and index finger. Makes a very nice ratchet sound. In fact, it smoother than any Invicta I have tried since my 2014! Its not as precise, mind you, but still very smooth. Attachment: invtank.jpg (Downloaded 65 times)

The flying tank is a nice watch. Liked it since I saw Ken's. I will wait until Swatch cuts the supply of movements and the price goes up to get one.:D The screw down crown is not what I would want on that movement so I agree. I would find a way to cross thread it while talking on the phone or something. The Invicta to quote one of my favorite movies "even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then". It is about time, not going to buy one, but I am glad that you are happy with it.

I understand your position. Frankly, I was surprised at the quality of this watch. It is way better than I expected. Given the price paid, its pretty hard to beat. I must say I have not gotten a clunker from Invicta within the Dive series with the Miyota or ETA movement. Clunkers elsewhere to be sure, but the Dive series seems to be pretty safe.

Great new timepieces, Mike. Congrats!!! I am considering to get one of that Invicta on black dial but I should get the 8926 coin edge first:)

Thanks. Check with Oscar if you are looking for a coin-edge. As for what to get, that is up to you. Me, I like the newer "Omega" style bezel. But, I am in the minority here on that score. Most would prefer the classic 8926 coin-edge. That said, this is a lot of watch for the money invested. Especially if you like a slightly larger, heftier case. This one has solid end links too. No Invicta written on the case sides either. nando_ferdz wrote: Great new timepieces, Mike. Congrats!!!

What are you doing winding your watch while talking on the phone??:D Hopefully, you aren't driving too!:shock: e.avery wrote: The flying tank is a nice watch. Liked it since I saw Ken's. those are both nice watches! I've put my Invicta bashing hat on the shelf and bought a couple of them in the last couple of months just to test the waters and I have been really impressed. I'm not holding my breath or anything but I've been impressed. @ e.avery Don't hold your breath waiting for the supply of those hand wind Unitas to go up in price or down in supply. The chinese are making high quality unitas copies in the high beat 21,600 style. It's putting the pressure on Swatch to keep these movements available in numbers or they will have to give ground to the chinese! Last edited on Mon Jun 12th, 2006 10:36 pm by OldeCrow |

Just for the record, the Flying Tank uses a Molnija (Molnia) 18 jewel movement. I think I have it spelled right now. Both spellings. :) Last edited on Tue Jun 13th, 2006 01:13 am by mcwright |
