I don't know if anyone has noticed but I've been on a Seiko kick these past few months![]() ![]() ![]() The Cal 290 - Seiko Gyro Marvel entered production in 1959 at the SUWA Factory. My watch was produced in 1962. ![]() I'm waiting patiently for the USPS guy to bring the EMS package ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited on Tue Nov 21st, 2006 09:50 pm by Docrwm |

Thanks guys. I don't have the watch in my hands yettime2.gifso I am hoping that it will be as nice in person as it appears. It wasn't too much. Funny, found the Chinese auction through about a 5 link sequence - kept translating it for several days and no one was bidding? Seems that old watches are seen as lower status (from what a friend told me) in many Asian countries. My gain. ![]() The ad is something I found on a Japanese-language website on the history of Seiko. I also found photos of the unique hang tags for the Gyro (which I thought I had used to change my Avatar but apparently not:X). Seriously, I'm not a vintage collector (only own one other Vintage that I have purchased - Bulova Concentric 6 Adjustments from 1952) but this one just fit - you know.:dude: Last edited on Wed Nov 22nd, 2006 07:33 am by Docrwm |

Very cool regardless of its status in Asia. Rate high in my book!! You have changed your avatar... jus hit your refresh button to see it. Very cool!! Enjoy, Pax |

Thankscool10.gif I didn't think to hit the refresh button:? What I am finding is that in Japan, Hong Kong, and to a certain extent Singapore and Taiwan if the watch is not Mint then it doesn't bring very much. If it is perfect then it can command Princely sums. Me, I don't expect a 44 year old watch to be in perfect condition. Would I like one to be if it were affordable - sure. Do I expect it, no. |

Tom, Thanks. Now I'll have to find the perfect vintage strap to go with it. Any thoughts oh Master of the Vintage Strap? |

Well the USPS delivered my Gyro today![]() Well packaged. The movement is clean, watch keeps good time, strap is too short :? as usual. Takes a 19mm but the 18mm XL looks fine for now. No pics right now but will try to put some up soon. Since I don't know when this was last serviced can anyone recommend a reliable watchmaker that works on vintage Seikos? |
