There was a package waiting for me tonight when I finally got home.boy10.gif

I didn't even go to the loading dock at the post office once!:P

I want to thank Canadajo.  I hadn't bought a watch from any of the trading fora previously.  The watch is perfect.  It is precisely as described, was very well packed, and even had the pastic on the back!hand6.gif

I had looked at Mido Multifort Automatic Chronograph's  before and wanted one.  When I saw his on the sales corner I decided to go ahead and am I ever glad I did.  I like the old-fashioned look to the watch.  It reminds me of many of the 1940s and early 50s chronos in the style and look of the dial.
It has a 25 jewels Mido 1320 (base ETA Valjoux 7750) certified automatic chronograph movement with Incabloc and Nivacourbe shock-absorber, Glucydur balance wheel, better Anachron and Nivaflex NM hair- and mainspring for increased and longer life accuracy; 28,800 vibrations per hour.  The movement is adjusted on 5 different positions for a higher accuracy and it reportedly has more than 45 hours of power reserve.  The movement itself has a decorated winding rotor with Geneva stripes and engraved Mido logo, blued screws and pearled bridges and is beautiful.

The 43mm diameter 316L SS case has a see through case back and screw down crown.  Its rated at 100m and comes with a Anti-reflecting sapphire crystal.  The strap was the biggest surprise for me.  Usually I have to replace the strap as they have been, up til now, too short.  This strap, while not excessively long, was long enough for me to wear out of the box (2nd to last hole)smile8.gif  It is a brown leather, moderately padded strap with constrasting white stitching and steel butterfly deployant clasp engraved with "Mido".

I am a happy camper today - well worth the wait due to the Federal Holiday!

Thanks guys!

The Mido's sure are unique and mine is technically a terrific mechnical wonder.

One question- in all seriousness - why isn't Mido better known?  Tourneau in Atlanta "the world's largest watch store" doesn't even carry them???

Nice pickup indeed. The watch was basically new and I knew it was perfect as I had seen and handled it. Really a beautiful watch in my eyes. CJ's a solid citizen and actually a hell of a guy...

Mido does the extra work on the movements and provides a quality product and a fair price. They are one of my favorite brands as well.

Enjoy the watch, Doc. Give it some wear and show it off!!

Pax,
Thanks.  Your comment on the sales forum helped me have no worries once I made my decision.    CJ is a terrific guy to deal with and the watch is perfect.  I could not be happier with it.  My wife is of the firm opinion that this is the nicest watch I own.  She also says that I've getting a little more stylish with the Champaign dial and blue Tach ring!:dude:

I really think they are beauties... you know after I saw CJ's I had to run out and get my own pulsemeter. Mine's just the little brother to yours but handsome nonetheless. Like Obsidian, I've got three Midos...

That's beautiful.  Nice photo and a terrific dial.  I've become a fan of the Multifort.  I'd lke to see the All dial in person but Tourneau doesn't carry Mido and no one else in Atlanta appears to???

CJ, Thanks.  It's odd that such a nice Swiss watch is so relatively unknown in the US.  When I went to Tourneau and they didn't carry Mido that blew me away.  For cryin' out loud they carry Invicta!?!
