Special Thanks to Marc Frankel at Island Watch for finding this watch and getting it to me. I have liked it for over a year, but it is not all that common as it is a Swiss Movement, a polished case, a carbon fiber dial, and pretty much a dress watch. Size is 42mm, but it is more like a 40mm on the wrist. It is fairly thin too and extremely comfortable to wear. With the factory supplied strap it would no doubt be even more comfy, but I always remove them.

The watch has a nice big, but not too big crown. It winds with a nice reasuring little noise and the dial work is very nicely done. The case has a very high polish which is exactly what I was hoping for. Even the back is polished. The bezel is the standard Buran 'spinner' type which I still don't get. Especially on a watch like this. But, it is of little concern.

Now for the best part. It GLOWS IN THE DARK! Ya-Hoo! All those nice hunky, chunky indicies around the dial are chock full of Superluminova. I just might have to wear my Ray Bans to bed with this bugger. :D It's a dandy! Oh, and it has a quick-date feature too thanks to the Swiss Movement.

That's a unique stunner. Really nice and great of Marc to go the extra mile to get it done... but not surprising!

I don't get the bezel either...

I really like that...and although I have said that I hate the shit out of carbon fiber...that dial has a very rich look to it!

Nice catch!

A very nice update of the Buran Flight. I like the spinner bezel. I use mine as a handy timer. The bezel on a Rolex Turn-O-Graph clicks both directions in much the same way.

You can do some research on the "spinner" and the red mark, but in a nutshell. . . it was used by pilots as their timing mechanism when they were flying between waypoints on a mission during war-time. I think Tutima was the first company to bring it back.

Anybody a pilot around here ? ? ? cool10.gif
