Ya know.. every time I pick up a Seiko I wonder how they squeeze in so much watch for so little cash.

Been wearing this one since the weekend, aside from a chapter ring glitch I can't find much to complain about.

Chapter ring/indeces must be a little irregular.  Watch exhibits the common quartz Sec hand/minute mark offset.  But this one's not just a matter of a sloppy handset, or a chapter ring installed a little off kilter.  The second hand nearly splits some indeces in two in it's travel around the dial, while  others it doesn't quite reach 1/3 across the index.  Sec hand is nearly right on the chapter ring minute track in some places, while it's half a sec behind on others.

Normally, this kinda thing just requires a minor sec hand repositioning, or a fractional dial/chapter ring rotation to straighten things out.  That type of fix wouldn't work this time.  Little odd, never run into this before!

Watch looks super, nice weighty reminder on the wrist (very un-Seiko in that regard), great lume, perfect Pepsi presentation, upscale bracelet & clasp...  but it's gonna take some wear to decide whether this on again/off again sec hand/minute track mismatch is gonna be less... or more annoying!

That's really odd...from the pictures, the chapter ring looks fine with evenly spaced indices, It's got to be in the analog part of the movement!

Very nice looking watch.  I used to have their previous kinetic diver.  The dial on mine looked to be much smaller than this new one.  I wasn't too crazy about the hollow hands...harder to read for me.  How do you like the hands?

Hands almost kept me away from this one.  Not as tough to read as I'd feared.  Glad I tried it.

*(..but if a set of Ti Samurai hands stumbles across my path these rocket hands might just have to blast off!)

Nice watch there Danny. I was eyeing one of those myself. Could you please post some measurements of your watch. I've read some conflicting dimensions on different sites.

Thanks,

Dave

Hey Danny I like that.  I like the Pesi look.  The wrist shot looks great Camera_photos.gi. The case looking into the dial  watch2.gif, it looks deep like the Marathon D-SAR.  Man that wrist shot looks   perfect.gifawesome.

I've already seen that watch in person and tried it on. It's a very solid/heavy watch and a great beater for sure. Hopefully SEIKO will come up with an automatic version of that one.

Congrats!!!

hand6.gif Very nice!!!  Does Seiko finally have the kinetic thing worked out???

I remember once upon a time there were numerous capacitor issues...

Stratman over on SCWF explains the capacitor situation pretty well right here:

Had a couple of earlier kinetic divers that wouldn't hold a charge for love or money.. this new one went to it's full 6 month charge after a single day's wear.

HUUGE improvement!

After wearing this guy for a while, what is you take on the chapter ring/second hand mismatch problem?

Cheers

Ya know Colin.. in magnified photos it's apparent (long as you know where to look), but on the wrist it's just not turning out to be an issue.

Nice heft on the wrist.. impressive appearance.. quartz accuaracy.. dirt cheap..

Enjoying this one more over time instead of less.  Ya just never know until you wear one a while.
