... for my son!  I bet you thought I was going to say I ordered another one while waiting for the the Pseudo-Rhula and the Nauticfish :P

Anyway, my older son likes yellow and he snagged my first yellow diver, a quartz from "Ray on the Bay" last year.  I noticed lately that he has been eyeing up my Corsair.  "Dad, you have 2 yellow watches and I only have one!"  I have a Seiko SKXA35 along with the BI Corsair, so I figured maybe I would get him something for his birthday.  Well, we were at Kohl's last night, my wife was shopping for clothes so I went over to the the watch counter.  On the top there was a display for Columbia watches, and right in the middle was a bright yellow diver style.  Half price to boot, so I snagged one for him since he has been a good kid lately.

It is pretty nice, 100m WR, moveable bezel that feels solid, decent lume and easy read dial, sets smoothly and the second hand lines up around the dial, not the norm with cheap quartz especially for 30 bucks. did some research today and found out Fossil makes them for Columbia sportswear.  I gave it to him when we got home last night and he was thrilled.  He put it on and still has it on :D

Cheers,
Griff

P.S.  I did snag myself a used Seiko SKX007 with president bracelet on the cheap from a sales corner while waiting for the Nauticfish and the Pseudo-Ruhla...

LOL! You got that right Steve!

It is a cool watch, well worth the 30 bucks for sure. The wrap bands are his favorite, he has a Timex digital with the same kind of strap. He likes NATO's too hand6.gif

He received another merit badge for Scouts tonight, on his way earning badges towards Eagle. :D We have a Court of Honor scheduled for Thursday, he and a couple of his buddies made Second Class Scout, plus more merit badges he earned over the summer. He deserved the watch and more!

Now if I could get my younger son interested...he wears his mil style Timex only when I remind him mistake.gif

Thanks guys!

Cheers,
Griff

Wait until he sees his real birthday present, a Ruger 10/22 .22 cal. carbine, he was a crack shot at camp over the summer!

Hi All

I know the feeling. My son was wearing my watches, (Oh No dont wear that one).

So I picked him up an Orsa Mil black dial and he loves it. Thanks Berg.

Sometimes it pays to buy them one.

He has his own watch box now :D
So far he has snagged my yellow "Ray" quartz diver, a Lionel collector's railroad watch, one of my backwards Disney Goofy watches, my old Casio black plastic beater, a Timex analog/digital compass, an original Mondaine Swiss RR and my Citizen Railroad Approved. I had to get a new yellow diver, my Accutron RR Approved back from the spa, and bought the Evo version of the Mondaine. He also has a Citizen Pepsi auto diver I bought for him to go to Discovery Cove this summer, a digital Timex, a Star Wars plastic thing and a Scooby Doo watch. He pretty much only wears the divers, the Timexes, the RR watches and now the Columbia hand6.gif

Oh yeah, he will be 13 in another month :)

Cheers,
Griff

It looks surprisinly good for the price, good find!  Right off the top that strap looks really comfortable. I'll have to find one and try one on to satisfy my curiosity.  Well done!

(more than one Goofy watch??)

Heh, yes, I have (had) 2.  My wife gave me a Lorus years ago, silver dial, red and blue Goofy.  It is about 33mm, really a kid's watch, that is the one my son has.  A couple of years ago Disney put out a Seiko Instruments version at about 36mm, sliver dial again but with a tan/blue Goofy.  Both have counter clockwise dials.  When I wear one for the day I have trouble the next with a regular watch because I am used to reading backwards!
