THIS ARRIVED THE OTHER DAY FROM JAPAN .......as that was the only place I could find it .....Marc could apparently get the black version, but I wanted yellow, so after finding a link on a 3T thread I saw that there were 2 dealers in Japan that could get me one ....after converting yen to dollars and trying to install a Japanese word converter on the computor..... all there was is waiting the 2 weeks it takes for process , customs , shipping , etc ...................You can buy one of these for around 1K shipped ........I wanted to compare this Orient to my "hacking" Seiko and German or Swiss Divers ....  At first glance the bracelet was what I thought it would be ....Nice .... but nowhere near a Stowa or Marathon or Omega or Doxa, etc, etc ............The fact it didnt wind or hack bothers me ..if your gonna spend a grand I thought it should "hack" !!!!!    But it has kept good time so far (+ 6 sec in 24)....  I know you may be asking why I didnt do my research if Im gonna spend a grand ..... but I was sure there had to be a reason it was listed at 1500 bucks ......I like the power reserve a cool feature  & the fit and finish is excellent ....I repeat excellent .....the bezel is fitted and slides to perfection and the face and numbers is all done with fine detail .......The lume is tremendous ....Like a Doxa or Omega seamaster !!!!!! The crown will find its spot eazily and screws perfectly down .....It is well built and kinda heavy .....I have taken a few bad pics for you to see ,as I will find time to do better later

Very sweet...................but at that price, I can get a couple of new ORSA 300M watches and have money left over.  Even the comparable STOWA Seatime comes in at considerably less....but not in yellow, of course!

Understand, I am not dissing the watch...I think Orient is an outstanding watch company.....I just do not understand their pricing on this one!

I agree on the fact its priced a bit high , I do see the value for the most part .....the best way is to explain it is after playing with and wearing many watches you get a feel for the qaulity that is in the watch and the fit and finish is a factor also ....you can just tell it is a quality watch....although it is not my Doxa Seamaster or Stowa for certain

Congrats CJ on the Orient Star!  I have the same watch and it is every bit as outstanding as your review says it is, and then some!

As for comparison with the Stowa Seatime, I had a Stowa Seatime and its not comparable, yes the Stowa has a nicer bracelet but the overall finish and dial details/lume is superior on the Orient Star.  It might make a better comparison with the Stowa Prodiver, but even that feels a little small on the wrist compared to the hefty Orient (42mm vs 45mm).

I agree. The quality certainly is there. Orient is not a company that gouges, and this one is priced right in there.
