In Nam, when I was recon and "leg", I carried an AR-15...when I was mech and mounted, I had within reach, my AR-15, M40 grenade Launcher with cannister rounds, pump action, sawed off shotgun with 00 Buck and a Thompson Sub-Machine gun.  Additionally, mounted on the Command Track were 2 each M30 Machine  Guns and 1 each .50 CAL Machine Gun.  We also carried a few captured AK-47's...close by was an HQ track with an electronic mini Gatling gun off of a Huey (6000 rounds per minute MRF) and the ZIPPO which was an M113 equipped as a flame thrower towing an extra 500 gal "buffalo" of napalm....no stinkin' M14 for me.

As an added bonus, on several missions, I had my own 105 "towed" artillery battery attached to my command and a section of 3 each M48 Patton Main Battle Tanks attached.  I had my very own freakin' Army...I was Bandido Charlie 6! subtlelaugh.gif

I guess it takes all that firepower to spell one Marine with an M14/M16! yahoo.gif yahoo.gifyahoo.gif

BTW, when we switched from the M14 to the M16, we realized the "M" now stood for "Mattel!"
