Well I just got done with a dispute that I finally escalated into a claimt. I ended up getting screwed. Not for a big amount $125.00. But I did learn some information about pay pal. First, you are not really protected and they don't do any investigation either. Let me tell you how this went down.

I tried to purchase a Marathon Navigator for $125. Fair price, so I posted in the forum (CPF) "I'll take it". We discussed the condition of the watch and agreed to transact. Now I had quick exchange of emails and pm. He wasn't new to the forum, also wasn't an oldtimer either. but it seemed on the up and up. Well I sent pay pal and he sent me a box with junk radio parts. I found out that with pay pal all the seller has to do is provide delievery conformation number and that is good for them. When I changed to claim to Item not as described as soon as it was filed they closed it and told me that they can't make a determination and that I should contact local authorities.

I was contacted by another person who had the same experience with this individual, same watch, they first told me of how I wasn't going to get any help from pay pal-he sent him junk flashlight parts. I wish there was some sort of escrow service for us to use for online transactions.

As long as they send something, anything, and there is delievery conformation, your screwed as the buyer as far as pay pal is concerned.

Oh I did get the BS about we track these things and when their is enough activitiety they will take action, you might get contacted in the future concerning this transaction blah blah blah.

First time I got taken online and I've been doing this for years. Been lucky I guess, for this being the first time and the small amount (125.00)

Is your Paypal linked with your credit card or bank account? You can still try to fight it through one of the two. I make sure any funds over $50 come from my CC. This way if there are any problems with paypal, you can get some help from your cc company.
