The post office called today......yes, on a sunday! boy10.gif My chicks were in.  So I brought them home.  There is 5 maybe 6 different breeds.  Have them set up in the basement under a heat lamp for now.  They all made it alive, 26 of them.  Shelby has been going nuts ever since they arrived.  Maybe when they get big enough, I will see how Shelbys hearding skills are as a Border Collie.  Now the work starts.  They ought to start laying in november or december.  We will have white, brown, and tinted eggs to sell.

Thanks guys.  They are all still alive and doing well.  Looks like there may be 7 or 8 different breeds now.  The closer I look at them I can see the differences. Just not quite shure about one of them.  Time will tell.  Now I just have to get my coop built so its ready for them when its time to go outside.

That's cool Scott!

My Border Collie is the world's laziest, he just wants his belly scratched :D though he used to herd the kids in the yard when we first got him.

Cheers,
Griff

Very cool Scott. My wife wants us to move a little more out into the country, and if we do, she wants chickens! I'll have to remember that I can go to you for advice!!

That is so awesome Scott.  When I was young my family raised chickens.  Our first was from my sister hatching them in 5th grade.  It was a mean old rooster but we added to the flock and had fresh eggs every day.  Enjoy and good luck with the business.
