Called the "Shangri-la of Golf" by one journalist, the course reflects a true integration of the game and the environment. The course features remnants of coal mining activity, including exposed, strip mined high walls, a rotary car tipple, coal-laden mine cars, a cart path through a once active deep mine, and waterfalls that originate from deep mining activity of days gone by.

That's not the Port St Lucie Pete Dye Course (that one's in Clarksville, WV), but the fairways, bunkers and greens are similar.........................84 - which is very good for me!

I have played several other Dye courses (both his son's are also designers of the same ilk - "no good lies, only better grass!).  The hardest (I think) is the Karsten Course at Arizona State University in Mesa, AZ!

Is that the one that parallels the river for a ways? I've driven past it alot, never played it. I think the hole I'm thinking of looks like a pasta noodle gone mad. Talking about a rolling fairway!

Ken, You are soooo right. Never a good lie with that guy!! My Aunt and Uncle live on the Gauntlet a P. Dye course (name has changed) in Southport N.C. and that is one He#@ of a course. Always makes you want to go back and try to do better.
