I've just learned that we who live in this wondrous state will be going to DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME this coming SATURDAY/SUNDAY !!! It will apparently end in November. This begs the question, no, several questions: 1. who decided, dagnabit? 2. why must it exist, dagnabit? 3. will the sun be up at 7 a.m. in Novermber, fgs!? 4. why start in bloody March, fgs? 5. is it not still winter, fhs? 6. why do I continue to live in this idiotic state with its idiotic politicians? why? end of tirade--at least for now |

Well you're not alone in your pain... all of us are doing the same, except for Arizona and maybe 1 or 2 others. They didn't like DST to begin with so they overrode the federal law (which was amended for this change). And don't forget to apply the registry change to your computer if you are running anything lower than Windows XP, otherwise all sorts of weird things could happen... |

It is yet another unfunded Federal mandate that Congress passed. They decided it would save energy costs. Of course, IT departments dependent on Micro$oft have to spend hours patching Windows and Outlook so calendar entries aren't screwed up for those extra weeks. The XP patch wasn't bad, I sent it out over my network to all our PC's (If you have Vista the new time zone rules are already there so you don't need a patch). The Exchange email server patch however...Microcrap released a tool...it didn't work. So 20 days later they released another tool (this law passed in 2005 mind you, nothing like waiting until the last minute), and it too didn't work. So they finally published updated instructions (after we spent hours researching) and hooray, it worked! Oh yeah, Congress reserves the right to switch DST back next year if the energy savings studies are inconclusive. :shock: Cheers, Griff |
