Yep, 4.8% of the computer users can't be wrong!!!  Must be true!subtlelaugh.gif

subtlelaugh.gif I must be the only person in the world that hated Apple computers. I never saw the advantage or superiority in them. The Wife's business had them and I yanked them all out and replaced them with PC's. Everyone seemed much happier after.

No, 95.2% of the US market also dislikes them ...and no major business, that I know of, maintains them as a platform!  You need to realize that when you deal with "Apple-ites" (or are the "Mac-ettes") you are dealing with an ideolgy not pragmatism! subtlelaugh.gif

Heh, after administering 600 Windoze boxes and servers all week, the last thing I want to do when I get home is deal with Microsoft torture of patches, hotfixes, and fixes for the patches and hotfixes.  Plus virus updates running every 15 minutes because some pimply faced script kiddie has come up with a new variation on an old virus or new bot. :X

7 Macs here, from a ca. 1989 Mac IIci to a G5 PowerMac running OSX 10.4.  One of them runs my home automation system flawlessly.  I still haven't bought an Evil Empire (Intel) Mac and I am not happy about it but they caved to market forces so I eventually will. I won't have a Windoze PC in my house, my work laptop sits in my closet unused unless I am on a business trip.

I have never had an OSX Mac crash, ever.  Yes, the old systems (System 6, 7, 8 and 9) were really no more stable than Windoze, but I have found that the BSD foundation that OSX is on is pretty bulletproof.

Market penetration doesn't mean superiority.  Remember Betamax?  The best video quality on videotape, but VHS held up to 8 hours of (abysmal quality) video compared to 6 for Beta.  VHS won in the marketplace, though Beta remained at production houses and TV studios for years and many iterations.  Microsoft business practices and Apple's premium hardware pricing have kept them out of businesses, not the superiority of the Windoze OS.

Go to a TV studio, recording studio or other media production house and you won't find Windoze... toon1.gif

Cheers,
Griff

I ain't got no TV studio, recording studio or othe media production house...and what are "Microsoft Business practices"?  Yes, they dominate the market, but Apple had both the opportunity and head start in the industry to do that....they just weren't smart enough.  In fact, it was Bill Gates that had to come to Apples rescue with an infusion of $150 million plus to keep them from going down the tubes...Do the have fewer viruses than PC's..yes, because guys that do that sort of thing want to make an impact...and shutting down a MAC or 2 just!  Do they have fewer problems than PC's...perhaps.  I have had problematic PCs and I have had PC's that never had a problem....perhaps we just don't here from those that throw their MACS away!

Bottom line, better or not, Industry uses PCs because ultimately, with all of the problems that MAC users claim that PCs have, it is less expensive and MORE EFFICIENT to use the PC platform than it is to use the Apple MacIntosh platform.

BETA may have been better, but it didn't meet the needs of the guy on the street...MAC may be better, but to industry and the guy on the street, it is not worth four times the cost for twice the effectiveness (and I beleive that is an exagerrated effectiveness).

That said...enjoy your MAC! ThumbsUp02.gif

I agree. We forgot someone got a new toy. They love it so that is all that matters. Sorry Chick Hazzard. Hope your Mac exceeds all of your expectations!

KenC has made me depressed with his harsh postings about about my Apple. I was almost to the point of selling it and all my watches. It was mean and cruel.

Nah... Only kidding!
