Sometimes the gift givers need a little guidance so I steered them right to this box. Very handy storage space which allows you to store watches without wrapping them around pillows and increasing wear on your straps. Looks good doing it too! Thumbsup3.gif

Hi again Pax. Cool storage idea. You are anything but subtle with your steering!! The idea of flat storage is a good one we should all think about for leather and rubber straps. Great idea that box.

I noticed on paneristi site that there is a guy who sells boxes he makes up from interesting old things - draftsmen's tool boxes, protractor cases, lots of cool stuff. His ideas and yours have finally convinced me that I should go on a box-hunt and make some for myself. 85 plus 50 plus 20 (short strap plus watch plus buckle) means that each bay shoud be about 55 wide and about 170 to 180 long. Off to the auction houses I go.... Will post up pics when done in a coupla weeks.  I'm not a commercial animal, I just like the idea of making one for myself in my spare time. Oh - better make that four weeks or so! ;)

Cheers all!

Cool! I hadn't given much thought to the idea that the pillows put wear on your straps.

I have a friend that owns aa Amish cabinet making company (he's not Amish).  We've been working on a design to build a box with compartments like the travel case that Keith shipped with the Reef Ranger so they lay flat.  Trying to build it to hold 36 to 48 watches with trays stacked on top of each other in a highly finished wood box with choice of wood.

He has a designer working on it, may have drawings this week

I'd be interested in that, Nick. Keep us informed.

My thought exactly Ken, the boxes that use pillows are huge, the design we are working on would get 48 watches into a box about 20 inches wide X 14 inches deep X 8 inches high.  The height is the tough one.  That would be 4 trays of 12 each.  The other design would be 3 trays of 16 each and would be about 24 inches wide by 14 inches deep...not sure if 24 inches is too wide.  The idea is to make them so they will fit in a safe.

the other option would be to cut the dimensions in half and only hold 24 watches.....open for opinions!!

Thanks for the nice replies 3T bro's!

As far as your concept Nick, if its an Amish watch box its out of my budget!face4.gif Sure does sound like a great way to store watches efficiently and safely... forgive the pun! toon1.gif
