When referring to strap buckles, what does pre V mean?

Thanks.

Pre-V=Pre-Vendome. That's a pre-V style buckle on my Base. Sorry I don't have a better picture. If I'm not mistaken when Vendome (now Richemont) bought Panerai and reissued the watches they came initially with thumbnail buckles. The pre-V buckles were used on Panerai straps from 1993-1997.

The Vendome Group owns Panerai and several other high end brands.....and The Richmont Group owns Vendome :D...the pre-V style buckle is best described as the buckle that looks like a bottle openerhand6.gif Dino Zei was the original owner of Panerai and designer of many of our favorite Pannyshand6.gif
