In my enthusiasm to get my new Enzo straps onboard my EMV, I think I've stripped the screws on one lug - just spins, and spins and spins :( Anyone have a good trick for extracting one of these buggers? |

there is only one screw that screws into a long tube,you need to use a screwdriver on both ends....one to hold the 1 screw end steadfast and the other to turn in order for the screw to be removedhand6.gif |

Yeah, I know - sorry, my question was probably phrased poorly. Even when holding the tube end in position with a screwdriver, the screw end just spins and doesn't progress out of the lug. |

If you did strip it out it may be best to take it to a watch repair guy. They should have the proper tools to deal with such things. You may just do more damage if you keep trying. ;) |

We took it to watch shop and the fella drilled it out. And changed the lug holes from 1.2mm to 1.5mm and all was good. If I recall it cost him like $30 for the job. We went to eat came back and it was done.;) |

I found that if you use a really small flat screw driver or a small pair of tweezers and you get between the Lug and the Leather strap and you hold the longer portion of the 2 pieces you can screw out the stripped screw-nut while pulling outward on the longer pin, it sounds hard, but its way easy the hardest part is holding the head of the watch. I have had to do this 2 times and both with success and both the same scenario as you explain. cheers |

Oh yeah, work from the Back of the watch not the front, in case you scratch, it will be on the back side, but if your careful you will not scratch. |

Thank you both - that helps. Unfortunately it's on the bracelet, so the "squeeze strap" option is foreclosed. If I ever do get it out, I'm switching to springbars - I've seen at least one Panerai fan site selling them with slotted ends to fit 24" lugs, so that they look like these same tubes & screws, but you can switch them in and out easily. sometimes the small screw sticks and won't pop out even if unscrewed all the way....tap on each lug side lightly and try to avoid scratches to see if it pops outhand6.gif |

I hope it works for as it has for me,especially when loc-tite is used like on the Enzo's....if not and you have to pry it out I have a spare lug screw for you my friendhand6.gif |

cool10.gif You guys are too kind. I'm going to poke at it for a few days before I surrender & take it in to a jeweler, but appreciate all the suggestions & Oaga's very kind and generous offer. I think if I do get it out, I may try to switch to those large panerai-friendly springbars instead, so I don't repeat this misadventure! Best, Chris |
