Here is the Sea viper with the classic oyster ss band . i decided again to put the crown at 4hr because its very comfortable . the bezel is coated with pvd and the numbers will be filled with paint.

please give me your comments , i am still undecided on the dial color , since the watch will be ready in december , i was thinking more in a black dial with colored  hands , the blue  and orange dial as more '' summer '' look , what you guys think?

90% of my watches have a black dial so I do lean more to a Orange or Blue dial myself. But I do love the look of this watch Martin. Well done. I look forward to it. ;)

Martin I like the blue and the orange dials.  The black would look really awesome to.  Either way it looks kewl.  I would like to add a little comment on the style of the hands.  I like the style of the hands from the (old) Angler.  I borrowed a pic from John, real quick.  I like the extra tip (orange) on the minute hand.  I can go with the hands that you got, but the Angler hands are just way to kewl.

I think you have another winner. The only thing I don't like is the shape of the hour hand. I'm with Teddy and think maybe a version of the Angler hands would be a perfect fit.

I'm with teddyhana on the hands and face. Those hands look to much like a watch with similar spelling to Monstrum. Definately a Blue face. Your watches are UNIQUE in character and design, change the hands and face. Will the outer bezel rotate and the inner be stationary? How about 13 thru 24 on a stationary inner bezel? Crown at 4 is perfect. Just my thoughts on the matter. Ron

I must be odd because I really like the hands.

I like the blue and orange dials too.  For the black dial, were you thinking of having colored hands and dial markings?  I.e., black dial with blue lume or orange lume hands?

The shape of the case looks really nice too -- like it'd be very easy to wear.  Definitely excited for this one!

Martin,

I particularly like the shade of orange you are showing. The case and bracelet look great too. It took me a little while to realize that you've got two scales on the bezel - one to do countdown timing and one to keep track of a second time zone. Very clever and useful! I have to admit I'd like the bezel better if it were stainless, but that's a minor quibble.

Looking forward to pricing and availability info. My Sea Angler may have a brother!

Rgds,

Steve

Hi Berg! Nice one!

If you decide to do a black faced alterrnative - why not think about that subtle black outer / gray inner portion dial variation you had on the auto Anglers - it was fabulous! Agree +1 on the SA hands, but I do understand that you are not trying to make another SA!

Some Qs -

1. will there be a crown guard?

2. is the entire watch with the exception of the bezel, in brushed finish?

3. there seems to be a filler on the case between the lugs, and I reckon that is a ripper idea. See pics of Orient 300m saturation divers for an idea of how it looks - it is absolutely excellent and leaves minimal gap between strap and case. Can the filler be moved out a little?

4. (last Q!!) - will it have drilled lugs?

I understand that you are pretty well developed on this one already, so there is a minimal chance of design suggestions being acted on - but I really like this new creation of yours and I give you big kudos for finally getting an SS bracelet!

Cheers - IanM hand6.gif

Hi Martin,

Great watch !! will get one anyway !!

About the hands :
  •  I like the hours /minutes hands, different from SA, but I already own a SA !!
  •  I would have prefered a seconds hand with LUME !!
About the dial : the blue is awsome !! but a black will be great to, don't know what to choose !! (but anyway blue or black before orange for me)

About the bezel : this one is really great, that said as a diver watch (500m !!) I think :
  • Minutes bezel should be in the center, filled with white paint,
  • and hours (1-12) in the outer of the bezel, filled with color paint,
About the case : I think it should be sand blasted.

About the case back : I see nothing on your pics !! hope you are just keeping the secret on the drawing !! don't forget it !!!

December will be long to wait .... I was hoping to have it for august ...

Thanks & Regards

The blue dial is so nice I can't even imagine the SV dial to be in any other color. Too many black dials out there, IMHO.

The hour hand is fine. The minute hand can benefit from some steroids.

Kudos on the choice to go oyster bracelet.hand6.gif

You know me, Martin... I am all in for the orange dial. I agree with the others. There are many black dials out there and to me Orsa has been known for producing some sweet dial colours.

I like that hands though I do agree the minutes hand could use a little more heft. However as it is now is super functional as it runs well into the chapter ring/flange. a lumed second had would be a nice touch too as Wallace has said. Lume on this baby should be blazing.

I love it Martin! December is only six months away!!:D

Berg,

Great Job, nice styling, I like the case design.
I prefer the Blue dial with colored hands. I think the Black dial will detract from the "WOW Factor" you always strive to bring with each design.
I really do not like the Oyster bracelet, I find it boring, even a jubilee would be nicer or a Watchadoo, but the switch can be done later.
I don't know about the case finish, I would have to see real pictures of the difference between a polished and blasted version of the watch...maybe even a LE PVD (in the future).

Anyways, hope I've helped. Can't wait until December, perfect Christmas present to myself.

Very nice Martin, I would agree with the others, stay away from the black dial, orange and/or blue would be a better choice.

Any info on movement, price point, etc?

The movement is going to be the Eta 2824-2 as Martin stated here. ;)

Orange dial should be first.  Its a Diver, isnt it?  I also have tons of black dials and dont really care much for blue so Im being selfish here.  BTW, I use my dive watches more in the winter months on trips to the Islands than I do in the summer.

I LIKE the hands but add lume to the seconds hand.  Only thing Im a little ambivalent about on my lithium Sea Angler is the hands.  Personal taste there I guess.

Bracelet looks OK but is just a little boring.  What kind of clasp does it use?

Martin --

I have a Yellow Monstrum which is an outstanding wonderful design, from the huge domed crystal, to the incredible detailed cast case back, to the beautiful / colorful retro dial.

I would suggest that you build on the success of the Monstrum and carry over some of the highly successful design elements to the Sea Viper.

The Sea Viper case is excellent, so too the 500 mm rating, crown location, SS band -- all great.  But the watch as a whole looks like just another sports / diver.  I don't see anything that sets this apart from or makes it an ORSA?  Your ORSA blue Monstrum sold out and is highly sought after.  ORSA green is beautiful.  I just don't see any of the retro, colorful, creative ORSA energy in the drawings below.  Again, I think that the case is excellent and is a great starting point for another ORSA classic.  Hope I am not being too critical.

Just the for the sake of discussion and feedback, try showing the Sea Viper with a modified blue or green ORSA dial and see what reaction you get from the 3T community.

I have to agree with the others. There are too many black dialed divers out there. The orange and blue sounds good to me. However, I would like to see a different color for the minute hand and/or the second hand as well. I think it would really make the dial awesome. As for the bracelet, I am not too keen on the oyster. Whatever you decide, make sure the bracelet is meaty. As thick as the case is a wimpy bracelet would not look right. Maybe offering an extra strap so we can change looks would be a nice touch.

Congrats on a winner Berg, I'm definitely in for one of these!!

there will be 6 colors total when all is done 50 of each as Berg stated but I am with the classic blue and orange dials for the start as these 2 colors have been the most sought after by Orsa collectors and classic Orsa imhohand6.gif

Oscar -- thanks for the info... I am sure the finished product will look better than the drawings.  I was hoping to see something more like a Monstrum dial, retro funky.

Martin -- I borrowed this pic from someone who just scored this beautiful ORSA MONSTRUM.  IMO you've got a trademark look going on with the dial and hands, not sure why you would not want to continue a similar look with the SEA VIPER ?BERG

I don't mean to be contrary, Jim, but Orsa has been there and done that. Why would Berg continue to make the same watch over and over. He could easily pull out the Sea Angler, Pro Diver and Monstrum and just sell the same watches over and over again. I for one am glad he has taken the time to create another watch for those of us who love what springs from the Orsa stable. You can always exercise your right to search out Monstrum and do not have to purchase the sea viper if it isn't to your liking. It seems to me the WIS community here at 3T has been craving something new from Orsa and the response has been predominantly positive as is fitting for this design imho.

The hands on the other watches are indeed cool but for a new design I'd expect new hands too and like the concept Martin has going with these they complement the indicies on the dial. ;)

I have to agree with Pax....why would Berg want to make the new Viper look like the Prodiver ...Sea Angler or the Monstrum????  .... to the seasoned Orsa collector who has been here since day 1 back to 04'/05' and to when Berg made his 1st watch back in 02'/03' or so what we all love about the brand is that each new design is just that NEW and made in very limited quantities...nothing carried over or borrowed! ....Berg I hope you do not change a thing Buddy ...the Sea Viper rocks! yourock.gif

Hey guys, the monitor that I have during the day is absolutely horrid... and  I couldn't see any of the details of the blue dial or the correct color... so now that I have a glare free hi-resolution, screen, with proper color settings, I can see that the blue Sea Viper is pretty darn cool.  Trust me, I am not making this up, but earlier today, I could not see the blue numbers on the outside edge of the bezel, or the other fine details.  So I take back what I said earlier.  This is really very cool (below) and I love the shade of blue.

Thanks, Jim

I really like the way this one is shaping up. My only comment would be to beef up the hour markers. Aside from the 12,3,6,9 markers, they seem to be very narrow and that means much less lume, and nobody wants that.

Berg,

Looks good so far.

I already have a whole bunch of divers with the oyster bracelet, so I would like to see something a little more unique.

Hopefully it will have lug screws to attach the bracelet/ straps.

I think the hour markers should be a little thicker (wider-maybe chamfered?) to allow for more lume for us lume freaks out there.

I really like the blue dial. I prefer hour and minute hands that are the same color. in this case both black. (as shown in the orange face dial)

I do like to have crown guards. As you can see in the one picture it looks like it is going to be easy to snag the crown on all sorts of things.

I see that you have 60 marked on the chapter ring. Any chance to add 15 30 and 45 indications as well?

Other than these items I think the size, thickness, shape are all good.

I forgot, how big is the Sea Viper case ?  45 mm ?  Height 15 mm?

Any possibility of a LIME colored dial?

Same cast case back as Monstrum ?

How about black/green dial or a white/blue dial ?

I think green / black is perfectly suited to Sea Viper.

It's still the blue dial on the SV for me. I just hope it comes out exactly as the avatar. Really neat! hand6.gif To avoid wallet ache in December, I have already started saving up. I've got 4 cans under my bed now.  There's just X number of great watches but only X-Y in funds.face4.gif

Hi there Guys

sorry for not be present on the forum lately , i been taking vacations with the family and tried to be away for work ( it was hard ).

i have the final pics of the Sea Viper dial , i changed my mind in the orange dial because it did not get any attention but i did get alot of emails for a black dial.
i also received the case sample in white pastic , i realy want to wait for the real thing before taking pics of it , i am not sure if you guys will see the details if i take one.

i also included a pic of the case back , you should read 1650M not 1500M.

No orange option?? That was what I was after as posted earlier. Was I the only one?? No attention, huh. I am requesting the orange I reserved be changed to a blue in this case. I have no need for another black dialed watch and am very disappointed. I wanted and orange sea Viper to match my Orange Sea Angler. Please PM to confirm I am in line for a blue if there is to be no orange. I do not like it!!

Berg, my heart dropped when I read you were abandoning the orange dial in favor of boring black ...

... then I saw your pic. You have outdone yourself again! That is not boring or black :) . It is reminiscent of the last Monstrum you rolled out, and I still think it is the sharpest dial in that line. I think both are now superb and "worthy" of the Orsa name.

Berg,

I'm in for a Blue dial. cool10.gif Can't wait to see what other colors are going to

be available. I guess I would be the minority if I requested a Red/White dial or a

Red/Black dial or Yellow/Black dial version. Thanks watch2.gif

I am typically not a fan of black but this one looks cool. I am more interested in the blue though, and would like to see a RED and Orange one as well.

I'll buy a blue Sea Viper, and would love #9. will email you per your post above

Great job!

I am definitely in.  My Monstrum started as and has continued to be a favorite.

It'll be nice to get a fresh Orsa.

Awesome looking watch! I missed the blue Monstrums but this looks even better!!

Let us know the cost and pre-order info when you can.

Is this an auto? Miyota, Sellita, Seiko 6r15 would be my choices!

Well Berg, I'm also disappointed that you've abandoned the orange option, but the black dial with orange accents and hands looks very nice. I'll look forward to ordering one when we're at that point.

Hi , i'm loving the blue dial and would die for a killer red / black or red / white combo and as others have said a lime  / black combo or lime / white combo.

I can see myself buying quite a few more Orsa's, good work guys.

The Paxman (Mark) is totally correct on red's poor visibility. Nothing beats orange dials and believe it or not, black dials blends with the surroundings deep down there. I'm just a desk diver but that's what I've been reading:)

Well its one thing to be a desk diver but it seems to me Orsa's reputation is based on being a very usable diver. Red dials on divers scream faux diver or poseur imho and I would much rather make the conceit red negates a diver's usability factor. I'll echo what BRP (Jeff) said about orange being the best dial in terms of visibility as you can actually see your dial in Lake Michigan. ;)

I absolutely agree and would not suggest a red only series of vipers. But I think a few red models would sell to the poseurs who don't care and like The looks of it. The diver will go for the orange version no doubt:)

btw I went to lake Michigan in June for the first time and it rocks hand6.gif I loved it there and it as by far not only the largest but also the cleanest lake I have ever seen. Water so clear!! Was more like a sea;) considering going back there on vaca in the future

hey everyone... im new here and i look forward to seeing the new Viper.  it will be my first orsa if i get one.  i must say im a huge fan of the Blue that Orsa uses.  that color blue with a very simple dial and bezel would be great!  combine that with the great caseback engraving i have seen here and this watch should be great.  im coming from Rolex/Breitling/Marathon so i hope im pleased with this Orsa!
