A few weeks ago I traded a modded Seiko Monster for an Orsa Monstrum. I had that watch only for a couple of days but I tool some photos and wanted to share some impressions. the watch is a real Monstrum, bigger then the Seiko monster at 47 mm of diameter and at least 15-16 mm tall.

To my surprise it is actually really nicely made. The finish is some sort of blasted, I guess sandblasted, it looks like my Archimede Pilot. The lugs are 22 mm, the bar holding the strap has two screws on the sides that stick out a bit. It looked a bit odd to me. One screw was missing and I ordered one set from Orsa. The crown is big and screw in nicely, with a lot more thread then any other Divers watch I had. Really nice and easy.

The bezel spins with about 60 clicks I think, less then the Seiko Monster. The crystal is sapphire and is domed, it distorts the view of the dial a bit. The lume seemed adequate but I did not use the watch and so I don't know how long it lasts. The back is nicely designed. The movement is the Citizen Myiota, I believe it handwinds but does not hack. It started right up when shaken. Overall a great tool watch, massive and visible. Not my taste particularly and so it is gone now, but I was quite impressed, if one includes the 300m water resistence, and the relatively low price, this can be a great bargain for a great watch.

Thank you very much. In truth I wish I could keep all the watches that I like... But I would probably need to rent a warehouse to store them all... LOL

Believe it or not I am bound by certain policies and regulations that try to keep an harmonic balance between watches/funds... in short some times when I want something new I have to download something that I have. LOL

I never planned to keep the Orsa and I did the trade mostly to help another forum member who really liked and wanted a watch I had. However in the few days I owned the Monstrum I came to appreciate the build, finish, quality etc. Hence the review and my positive impressions.

Yes, there was a missing screw, I ordered 3 sets of these and sent them along with the watch to the new owner, a nice fellow in EU - Portugal. He was looking for one of these and was really appreciative for getting it, I could tell that he would appreciate this more then myself. Therefore off it went... LOL

And yes, I am looking into other ORSA watches, maybe soon?

I wonder if you are aware of how hard it is to find a Blue Monstrum. They are in REALLY high demand. Most of us have had the watch for years, but I have been looking for another blue one for a LONG time. mistake.gif

Thank you all. I am not much familiar with Orsa watches so I don't know the difference between the different colors etc. I did look them up a bit more after my experience with this one.

I definitely recommend a blue Monstrum if you like the style and the looks as they are well built and good quality and features. Good luck.
