I have been  forced to start the MORAY pre order so here it is.

The new Moray will have a 44mm case with 24mm lug distance
Height is about 15mm
Movement Miyota automatic 8215
Water tight up to 500m
Double domed sapphire with inside AR coating
C3 Superluminova for #1 - 4  and Superluminova black for #5 black lume dial

Options are brushed, blasted or PVD case and bracelet and a orange minute hand is also available

The price is grown up a bit ( the bigger double domed glass is  more expensive and the manufacturers price  has also grown up a little), so the later pre order price will be higher than the Sea Devil.

But for this stage of early pre order the price is nearly the same as for the Sea Devil.
$350 and $50 extra  for PVD coating.

The package includes watch with steel bracelet leather and rubber strap (like always)
I expect the watches in June and I need a $150 deposit
If you want to pre order the MORAY please send me an email to
sales@benarus.com

Best Regards Ralf

Hey Oscar, do you know of any other watches with the black lume dial to see how it may look....my first thought was to go with the blasted case for the contrast....but now I'm rethinking it and maybe should go all stealth....the only other watch I saw was the O7 model with ceramic case...the orange minute hand may be totally crazy crap.gif

as Ralf has stated quite a few higher end watch companies and one other I won't mention have used the "black lume" markers and arabics....the Moray would be the 1st I am seeing with the black lume treatment being used on the entire dial and that is why I want one....1st's in a series have always been a collectors dream of ownershipyahoo.gif

I like dials 2/3/4 but having to settle on just one, my deposit went down for a silver dial and serial number 2!  Right now the Cuda gets most of the wrist time but I am sure the Moray will be just as nice. Now the long wait till June!!

Ralf, you know I am in for the black dial with numbers, blasted finish, and the polished hands you mentioned that will be standard. #33 for me. Thanks, I am real excited about this vintage look. I am looking forward to my blue Sea Devil in a few weeks... that will help me pass the time until June!

i think it will be similar to this:

but it will have the black lume, which should look sick!

Ralf:

Have you decided if the Silver is going to be brushed from the middle out (sunburst) or not?  Before I order that might make a difference in the color I choose..

Also are the markers and numbers on the Silver dial going to be outlined in Black?

I have still not decided because I want to see in real before, and than I will not decide alone, all who  pre order the silver dial have vote.
The the markers and numbers will be outlined in black for a better contrast or I will try to make them raised, but chance for outlined is much better

For me, I am leaning towards the sunburst  but the brushed from 12 to 3 in the drawing also looks good.  Really doesn't matter to me.

Having a deposit on the silver, I vote for the black outlining, maybe even more than what is in the drawing.  I am afraid with the silver dial and no black outline it would give it a very monochromatic appearance amplifying the appearance of the black hands.

Brushed from 12 to 6;)

I guess if the outlining is like the yellow and orange dial Sea Devil it will be ok.
I know on the drawing it is hard to see, but in real it will be there

Thanks for the info - it's actually my favorite color of the lot.

Do you have any case back photos available?   I'm curious as to the inscription/art on the case back.

Couple of newbie questions.  I really like the Moray and thinking of making a pre-order.  Of the different options, which case finish is the most durable over time?

Do any of the case finishes show a better patina of wear as they are worn over time?

Also, I really like dial 1, but I'm not sure about the Orange minute hand.  Would it possible to get it with a Yellow minute hand instead?  Or perhaps the polished hands with a Yellow second hand?

Thanks.

Hello and welcome.woohoo.gif

I would advise a brushed finish as most durable and it is  easy to refinish.

Sorry no more hands options than the one on the website

Regards Ralf

Was curious if the steel braclet was the same as the Sea Devil and Baracuda?  Like those, but the computer mock up looks like more rounded lugs.

Having just discovered this watch I must have a Benarus Moray.  Is it too late to pre-order?  I am most interested in Dial 2, Orange Minute Hand and PVD Case.  Let me know if this is possible and how I go about submitting payment.  Thanks!

OK, I am in.  Emailed my order for a blue moray with bushed steel and the black/white hands.  Reminds me a little of the Tiffany color. cool10.gif

This will be by second Benarus.  Thanks Ralf.

I ordered one of these, but it seems the actual dial color and lume is different... than shown in the graphic mock-up, which is a bit disappointing, because the image you've copied (see below) shows colors PERFECT to my eye.

Andreas,

This image was posted by Ralf to show the actual color....

According to Ralf the picture above is more accurate than the picture below.... personally, I prefer the brighter white, and some have expressed similar opinions.  I am not sure if Ralf will be able to give us a choice at this point in time.

And finally, let me please add, that in my opinion, the original graphic showed a very  slight blue tint which would be better than brite white or greenish C3.

And I know that I've been obsessing about this, but it is just that the original graphic showed the perfect color balance, and is what most of us relied on when placing the pre-order.

Except for the number that is what I wanted, too. Are these numbered 1 to 50, or 1 to 100? If the former, I'd like #42, it the latter, #72. :)

OK, I am in.  Emailed my order for a blue moray with bushed steel and the black/white hands.  Reminds me a little of the Tiffany color. cool10.gif

This will be by second Benarus.  Thanks Ralf.

Andreas

And here are the dials outside in the sun. This is better than both shown above. The blue looks very nice!

Does Raff take off the Weekends?  I emailed my preorder yesterday but did not hear back.  I previously had emailed another question him and he replied within a few minuites I think.  Could be a time zone thing too.

I just want to make sure I am doing this preorder right.  Do I email him first and he sends me a Paypal request for money?  Or do just go ahead and send payment right to his address in the first post?

Except for the number that is what I wanted, too. Are these numbered 1 to 50, or 1 to 100? If the former, I'd like #42, it the latter, #72. :)

OK, my pre-order is in, so I'm #42 for the sea foam! Also, hoping the second hand will be orange tipped with the orange minute hand.

Ralf just set up a poll for the orange tipped second hand, go vote and from what I've seen here our votes carry alot of weight with Ralf and the gang......Dan

Yeah, I need this one in my hands before July 10! It will get some use in the pools at a Disney resort in Orlando.

Hmm, there might be a trend here. Perhaps Ralf should consider licensing a Disney character's likeness for his next watch?

I know today is Monday the 20th.  Is the preoder still available through the end of today?  I sent an email to also asking.  I wanted the blue dial, all white hands, brushed, with the #12.

However, I'm now a little worried that the white of the blue dial is a nasty green/yellow color.  Which one of the many lume shots here is most accurate?

Just got a confirmation from Ralf . . . I'm in for a brushed SS Moray with the silver dial, serial #2 (like my Sea Devil). I'm really pumped about the throwback styling of this watch; nothing close to it my modest little collection. I think it'll become an instant favorite.

By the way, it's still April 20 on this side of the planet . . . now or never for the pre-order pricing.

Let the waiting begin.

Placed my order at 11:55pm, East Coast time, for a Brushed Seafoam Moray with white hands.  Still time for the West Coasters to join the club....or the Alaskans....so go for it!

Just placed my pre-order, black PVD, dial #5 - better late than never eh? :) Hopefully number 29 if it's still available!

This is my first post (and will indeed be my first Benarus watch!) so hello everyone!

After seeing a few shots of the Sea Devil, I am really looking forward to the Moray.

Hello, this is my first post. I am interested in pre ordering a Moray. I emailed Ralf to make sure it wasn't too late, but haven't received a response yet. Its only been a day, but I don't want to miss out.

I'm interested in a silver dial, brushed case.

Much to my wife's dismay, I'm into watches now, along with knives and lights. The Citizen doesn't cut it anymore! :)

Thanks!

Judging by a reply in another thread, I think Ralf was travelling from the USA back to Germany hence he's a bit quiet at the moment.

I trust that as I've pre-ordered and paid my deposit that I'll get an email from Ralf when my watch is ready?

This will then allow me to pay the balance, confirm address etc.

I trust this will be soon as I'm off on holiday soon so would like my new Moray before I go.

anodie.gif Talk about being happy! WOW, you buy the watch, wait a little bit, find out that they are not taking any short cuts to make a better product and then you get rewarded with an extra strap. Now that is customer service!
