My Sea Devil blue dial #2 arrived about 20 minutes ago from Hong Kong. Here are some Q&Ds -- didn't even bother to dust it off.

Too soon to have any impressions other than:

1) It's big
2) It's blue
3) Fit and finish appear excellent

Nice surprise -- I thought the dial was going to be a flat finish, but instead it's kind of an iridescent finish that changes from deep blue to a brighter blue depending on the angle of view.

WAY TO GO, RALF!!

Beautiful !!! I could kill Ralf. All his watches are soo nice and though very well priced means that I want them all crap.gif

I had initially ordered PVD and Orange, then wasn't 100% sure how it would turn out so ordered PVD black, thinking I may change to exactly like yours. Now I've seen the black and yours I want yours aswell as the black mistake.gif

Hey Guys,

I've been reading this forum for months but have only just signed up to see the Sea Devil pictures. They are STUNNING. I can't wait for #24, Lume Dial, Blasted.

How long are us Europeans going to have to wait for ours? The excitement is killing me!

Yellow has arrived as well.

The pictures are rushed and the weather has been especially crappy (you living in Cary should know) so no good light. I think when the sun hits this dial it'll be insane.

Very happy right now.anodie.gif Will take more pictures when weather clears.

#26 Blue/Brushed arrived today. I am keeping it on the bracelet for now. The look is striking. The overall quality and presence of the watch is *stupid* good. I mean, really ridiculously good of the money.

A few observations...

I took one link out of the bracelet and have a comfortably loose fit (I can slip one finger inside the bracelet while on my wrist). Guys with very large wrists may have a problem with this and need additional links.

The screw down crown is pretty rough. Hopefully it smoothes out with a little wear. It is not wonky like the Orasa Mostrum. It feels pretty solid -- just roughly finished.

The embossed logo on the storage case is a nice touch, and the case itself is very nice. I am assuming that the case should open with the strap compartments on top and the watch compartment on the bottom. If the logo is on "top" of the case, it opens in the opposite direction than what I just described.

This might seem like nit picking, but In my opinion, the engraving of the bezel markers is pretty pedestrian in comparison to the rest of the watch. Maybe it is a victim of over-delivering in so many other areas. But to my eye, the engraving could have been deeper and filled in better. The is nothing "wrong" per se, but the shallow engraving is a little off in comparison to the rest of the watch. Perhaps I am too used to the incredibly good bezels on my Orient Star 300m's which are my go-to divers.

My only regret is that i did not get more than one. The initial impression of the watch is very impressive. I probably would have wet myself when I first saw it, but that's hard to do when you have a stiffy. :-)

The book is pretty darn funny. It's got all these great illustrations peppered throughout the novel. The title alone had me hooked!

MINE HAS THE LOGO ON THE STRAP COMPARTMENTS SIDE. I SUSPECT YOURS IS A MISTAKE. PERHAPS RALF WOULD BE WILLING TO REPLACE.

I NOTICED THE SAME ON MINE. AND LIKE YOU SAY, IT'S NOT A MISTAKE, BUT A SMALL DETAIL THAT MAYBE DOESN'T MEASURE UP TO WATCH'S OTHER CHARACTERISTICS.

Were you expecting the iridescent quality of the blue dial? That really took me by surprise, in a totally positive way. I was just expecting a flat continuous tone. Wish I could capture it in a photo, but it's just not happening.

And I'm curious as to whether the same effect is present in the orange, yellow and black dials.

I was expecting it "conceptually" since Ralf mentioned it -- I did not anticipate how nice the effect really is in the flesh, though. With the hands' silver/white/orange color scheme, the blue iridescence really puts the dial appearance over the top. I also really like the way the depth of color changes in different light.

Hey fellas, those Sea Devils look SUWEET!  It's just not in the cards for me to get one now, but I have to congratulate Ralf on delivering another outstanding piece.  I'm even jealous of the packaging -- how awesome is it to get a 4-watch case with stitching that matches the dial?!

Great pics, man. What is almost impossible to convey in photos is the way the blue dial can go through so many subtle, yet dramatic, gradations in color. It ranges from dark navy blue->medium flat blue->medium iridescent blue-> crazy iridescent blue. The contrast between the dial color in your most recently posted photos and Steve's give a hint of this. Your first series of photos come closer the in-the-flesh effect. As hard as it may be to believe, it is actually even more striking in real life.

It's all about the PVD baby!!!!!!

Finally......... the PVD / Blue Dial Sea Devil has arrived in Australia!

Ralf - congratulations on a fantastic tool watch.  This thing looks like it could take a bullet for me and still keep on ticking.  It's late at night here so I've only been able to check it out under internal lighting but the blue is very impressive..... it looks almost black in some conditions and then when the light catches it very irridescent blue!

I can't wait to check it out tomorrow morning in the sunlight.

The packaging, travel case, extra straps, tools etc just complete the whole package which is top notch.

I'm not much of a bracelet wearer but this one actually seems pretty comfortable and solid... I've swapped it straight onto a 24mm black Maratac zulu strap and it looks pretty cool, and is very comfortable... I only have a 2-ring with SS hardware but my new 24mm 4-ring with PVD hardware will be here on Monday and should be a perfect match for the SD.

It's great to see a large watch that fits someone with a smaller wrist and doesn't have lugs that hang over the edge of your wrist.

The white paint in the bezel markers really looks excellent against the PVD finish.

And here's a few quick (very rough) pics taken just now.... I'll take some better ones outside in the morning.

Cheers guys!

Just received my #29, brushed black dial and it is a fantastic watch. I love the case and included straps, it took mere seconds to adjust the bracelet. Great job Ralf, this is taking first spot in my rotation of some very notable watches. It wears great and looks fantastic.  You have got a winner on your hands. Thumbsup3.gif

Hi,

This is my first post on 3T and I figured I start it off with my impressions of this excellent watch from Ralf!!!

I was actually surprised to find out that my Sea Devil arrived today.   I was figuring it'd arrive some time next week  :)

I went for the Sea Devil PVD with Orange Dial + lumed markers on the bezel.  Although the markers on the bezel are not that apparant as with white markers, but I sort of like this muted look as it reminds me of my Hamilton BelowZero.

I was surprised to see the that the orange dial actually looks more like an anodized orange finish, as opposed to a very solid/matte like look that seems to be shown by most pictures for this colour of dial on the Sea Devil.    The pictures I quickly took when I got my watch (with my cellphone) is no different, and does not begin to show the subtle beauty of this anodized like finish in the orange dial.

Ralf if you are reading this, thanks for this piece of beauty!   yourock.gif

Congratulations RVS1111 - that's a great combination... looks fantastic!

So here's a few more pics of my PVD / Blue taken outside in the sunshine......

I tried to capture as many different colour variations of the blue dial as possible.

It's a pretty cool watch so far

[GGD]  Thanks!

The blue dial face that you have really does go through a nice spectrum of colour change from blue to a very dark/navy blue.  hand6.gif

[magpies14]  I'm sure when your 2 PVD watches arrive, you'll be really impressed at the quality.  Since you also have lumed markers on the bezel too (?), I think you'll be quite happy to see that is actually pretty bright considering that it looks grey under normal lighting.

#38 arrived in Canada!  The package was very well done and the presentation of the watch is incredible.  I wanted the ultimate diver's, i have it.   The fit and finish of the watch is amazing. The blasted case and bracelet look silky and is very pleasant to the eye.  It's my first blasted watch and certainly not the last.  I taught the Marathon J-SAR was heavy, well the See Devil on bracelet is heavier!!!  Beleive me when i say heavy, i mean heavy.  It's a brick attached to your wrist.  I would say that if one would dive with those to watches at the same time, he would stay in the bottom of the sea ;).  The watch runs fast but it's no supprise since i've never seen a Miyota movement running slow.  At +- 8 sec a day for the last two days, it's a nice surprise for me because the two other watches i have with this movement, where +25sec a day out of the box which way too fast for my taste.  Fortunately, it's an easy movement to regulate.  My only complaint would be that the bezel on my watch is stiff , i think i will get better with time but for now, the bezel is impossible to turn under water unless you use gloves.  Anyhow, for the price, i'm positive that this watch is the best deal on the Internet and for sure, not my last BENARUS.  Great job Ralf!!!  Here are a few shots of that beauty!

Whoa, that lumed bezel looks killer!!  Does it stay bright for very long?  I remember Ralf saying initially there was a problem with the lume for the bezels, so I'd be interested in knowing how long it lasts.

Ya ... I really like the lumed bezel on the SD  :)

[Bloom]
I would say from quick observations that the initial brightness of the lume on the bezel is good for maybe the first 15 minutes or so.  After that you would have to stare at it for a few seconds to see the lume.

However, from what I noticed last night after my watch saw about 15min. of daylight, (then left to sit in the washroom),  the overall lume on the bezel lasted just a bit over an hour from what I would say is 'usable'.  It was at the point where I couldn't see the numbers clearly on the bezel, as they looked like blobs of lume at best, but the markers at the 5min. intervals were noticeable enough if I stared at the watch for a few seconds (like 4-6 seconds I would say).  The dial face numbers and dial hands were still very good at this time.

Actually, out of curiosity to see how much lume was still available on certain parts of the watch, I did take a quick peek again about 1.5 hours later.  The bezel lume was all but gone at this time, the numbers on the dial face were a lot dimmer, but were still identifiable/readable if you stared at it for a few seconds.  The dial hands were glowing a lot better than the numbers on the dial face of course.  I would guess that the dial hands seem to be about double the brightness of the numbers on the dial face at this point in time.

I never went back to see when the dial hands actually became to dim to be usable though.

I got it today, really a nice watch, The orange skeletonized minute hand looks too cool with the lumed white dial. #12 in the house. It's even better than I had visualized, I have to use the other clasp that's supplied, the hidden clasp type is too small for me, but it's all good, fit and finish is great, and the price was a perfect 10 as well. Good job Ralf!! and thanks again....Dan

Thanks all you 3Ter's too, I'll post more pics with the Cuda and Sea Devil together

Damn guys, I'm all ready to pull the trigger, and I'm really struggling between getting the anodized blue on brushed ss which looks beautiful, or the fully lumed dial, also on brushed ss.  All these great pictures are making my decision even harder!!  Being a lume fanatic, the lume dial seems like it would be tailor made for me, however that blue dial really looks very nice.  Decisions, decisions!!  crap.gif

I know the obvious choice would be to get both, but I can only afford one.  Hopefully I can make up my mind soon!!

I got the Devils today and can only say, WOW!!!  It's hard to believe you can get so much watch at such a great price.  For those of you that haven't pulled the trigger on one of these yet don't wait any longer, I promise you won't be disappointed.  Here is a couple of quick shots, I left them in the plastic for strap changes.  I will post up some proper pics once I get them all situated...  Last but not least, I'd like to give a big thankyou.gif to Ralf for offering up such a fantastic timepiece...

Bloom,  I haven't had much time to spend with them yet but I can say that I was most excited about the blue dial.  I am wearing the blue now and I can say that the blue is stunning.  The lume is next on the list for sizing and I'll let you know my thoughts then.  I really think that the two are a good mix but I think I'll always lean towards the blue as far as personal preference.  BTW,  I think the sleeper in the bunch is the black blasted (no hev) version, there is just something about it that gives it a more "toolish" style that I like so much.  cool10.gif

I'm curious if your band fit you with the hidden clasp, It makes the watch too tight for me, I have to change to the fold over clasp with seconary lock to get the bracelet to fit this time. It seems my Cuda is 1 link longer, but not sure yet havn't compared the 2 together as far as how many links are there. my wrist is a little over 8"............Dan

Look forward to hearing your impressions Michael; I'm going to order one or the other tomorrow. Still debating. I love lume, but that blue dial looks incredible, however I don't have a lume dial watch in my collection.

As for the BB black dial, I agree that it looks stunning; Oscar posted some pictures, and it really looked killer.

Dan, it's funny that you mention this.  I have very small wrists and usually have to remove several links to get the right fit but in the Devil's case I only had to remove 2 links.  I thought that since the lug to lug length was greater on the Devil I would have to remove more links that on the Cuda but I actually took out less.  I think you are right, the Cuda must have a longer bracelet...suitekids wrote: I'm curious if your band fit you with the hidden clasp, It makes the watch too tight for me, I have to change to the fold over clasp with seconary lock to get the bracelet to fit this time. Yea, I busted out the case for the Cuda and I am checking now, to see whats up, I might have to ask Ralf to send me a link to get the hidden clasp to work, but I'll wait till everyone else gets their watches first, no sense in taking up any of his time till everyone else has gotten satisfied. Nice watches tho, really striking with the lume dial, I have a blue faced Breitling Super Ocean and a Seamaster Pro "Bond" and the Cuda, so I don't need another blue faced watch....lol. Looking forward to the Green Moray Eel, I reserved #2 in that one. I have only one green faced watch, and I had to make that myself. I let you know what I find on the bracelets, It damn sure is no biggie...........Dan

Nice Sea Devil! Gotta ask...is the lume on your orange dial really that white? I thought the orange Sea Deviils used C3 lume which is greenish...

For those of you who have purchased the bead blasted finish, are you finding that the finish on it is pretty resilient or does it scratch easily? How do you repair scratches to a bead blasted finish?

I've been wearing mine for almost two weeks (sorry for those that are still waiting:P)  and since it's my first bead blasted watch, i was also  wondering how resistant it would be to scratches.  So far, it's way better than any polished SS for sure (no surprise) and not worse than brushed finish imo.  I have small lines on the bracelet, which is normal, but you really have to look close to see them and besides that, i really, really like that finish.  I've seen blasted finish on some watches that were very grainy and looked like if it was concrete not metal.  The finish on the BENARUS is very well done and uniform as far as i can tell.  As to how to fix scratches on it, i have not done any research on it yet so i have no idea if you can do it as easily as a brushed one but i doubt it .  Worse case, you  can send it out to have it refinish.  That's what i do with my polished watches every two to three years depending on how often i wear them.

If you haven't ordered yet, you should not hesitate and buy with confidence.  The whole watch is amazing.  You will not find anything like it in that price range imho and if you do, please let me know! ;)

Hope it help!

Typically, Bead Blasted is tougher and harder to scratch. The trade off is that it can't be 'spot repaired' like a brushed finish. It would need to be completely reblasted to look new again. If Blasted scares you, don't even think about PVD :D .

I finally had a chance to snap a few shots of mine:

I just got mine too! Is there a trick to using the bezel? Mine seems to be locked tight.

What a watch, will post pics later, but they won't be as good as the other pics here, which are awesome.

So here's a few more pics of my PVD / Blue taken outside in the sunshine......

I tried to capture as many different colour variations of the blue dial as possible.

It's a pretty cool watch so far
