Not even a Benarus specific question really, but wondering if lume generally degrades over time? Does exposure to the sun increase the rate it degrades? Curious. The Seiko SKX diver that I usually wear is bright in the dark shortly after being exposed to good light. However, it doesn't seem to stay as bright as long as it used to. Not sure if I have become used to it and it seems that way, or is it really not lasting as long? Also, I bought a lume dial Sea Devil. Will eventually the lume dial need a face lift, and will it be possible if it does? They seem to be of great quality, so I doubt there is any real issue here. Simply curious as I haven't had any watches for a long enough time to notice anything before. Plan on keeping the Sea Devil though.

the chance of lume degrading depends on the quality of the application...some watches only stay bright an hour or so others through the night...the Sun is actually the best activator of Lume and the chances of lume degrading in 20 years is not something to even worry about...Ralf uses high grade C-3 and BGW9 and it is applied thick...everyone has a preconcieved notion of what they like as far as brightness of lume and a watch can always be sent to a modder to re-lume...so far of the 3 Benarus watches I own I can say the lume is above average and long lastinghand6.gif

Thanks, that is basically what I was wondering. This was only a curiosity on my part. Ralfs watches seem to be top notch, I wouldn't worry about the longevity of his work. Only wondering what the basic rule of thumb is on this.
