Dear folks,
I see the interest for a GMT or UTC is big enough to make it.
We plan to start with a Quartz and than follow up with a ETA 2893- 2.
I will go to HK next month and check if everything can be done like I want.
as soon as I have more confirmations I let you know and till then we can make a poll for the name.
We made a pre selection and I excuse that I could  not consider every suggestion. But thank you for all your input
 Regards Ralf

Ive gone with Mariner.

I would have liked Marine, but its not a deal breaker  what the watch is called.

As for a Quartz version first perfect.gif.

Yeah... look forward to the new GMT.

I'll wait for the 2893-2 then, even better that it will come out after the quartz version. I would need some time to set aside budget for new toy
:D

I personally don't care about the name but i think WORLDIVER would suit this watch very well.  So there went my vote.:P

That's great the the GMT will happen.  Like some of the other posters, I will also wait for the 2893 version.

If I'm not mistaken, Concord already uses the Mariner model name.

That's great news about Ralf doing a quartz AND a mechanical . . . now everyone can be happy.

Looking forward to the pre-order.

I cast my vote. I'm glad to see Ralph doing both a quartz and an automatic, but I will wait for the 2893-2. And now the waiting begins.

Thank you Ralph/Steve for making this possible!

I am very pleased you are going with the quartz Ralf -- it means I can probably stretch to buying one along with the Megalodon (without the wife putting my b@lls in a sling!)

"Worldiver" seems to be runaway leader but I think this a name I would expect to see on a Casio!

Benarus have no masters and clearly follow their own path so it's

+1 for Ronin for me

Graham.

If one name does not get 55%-60% of the vote, then that means a lot of votes are going to other selections, like fish names, that have not found a majority following.

Perhaps we could have another poll with only the top three options (Worldiver, Ronin and Mariner) and let people vote again.

Again, I'll be happy whatever the name!

like Sooner76 said, Mariner is taken by another watch company. I like the name WORLDIVER, it is clever and original.

Ronin is not so original and doesn't have anything to do with diving or time zones, but I liked it at first.

Most of the suggestions don't really work for me...the only two i would go for are Worldiver & Sea Turtle. Worldiver edges my vote.

No complaint here . . . just allows more time to set aside funds for the 2893.

this was in reference to those who can't seem to grasp the name Worldiver and what a poll decides...:D ... everyone fails to understand this watch is many months away ,so there is plenty of time to save up funds regardless of movement imho hand6.gif

Oscar, I could not agree more. The GMT is many months away. JMO, I do not care what the name will be. It's the style and movement that sold me. For Ralph's sake, I hope he has enough interests in the Quartz as he does the Auto.

I do not mind the name Worldiver, but it wasn't my first choice for a couple reasons which do not need to be repeated. I can see why some like it and I do not really care what it is called as it most likely won't end up on the dial anyway, just the case back, in keeping with Benarus tradition. If I really didn't like it I could just decide not to buy it, not the end of the world.

If the quartz version had a really long life battery (ten years) or a recharging feature, I would consider it. I'll wait and see the specs on the engine before I write off the quartz version, though my first preference is for the automatic movement.

Like many, many of us, I cast my vote on WORLDIVER. But I might wait for the automatic version. I'm not into quartz.

Ralf, maybe the survey replies can sway you to doing the auto first ThumbsUp02.gif

Hi Ralf, came late to the topic.....

I will wait for a 2893..... Also just to throw a name out there for future...how about "SEA WOLFE"  a real deep water fish ....pretty fearsome looking...also sub named after it... ranges the atlantic & pacific speciaes as well..

Love the design... I will be in for one

Best regards,

 Joe

PS. Ralf, you keep building them and I'll keep buying them..ThumbsUp02.gif

Hello, looks like Worldiver is winning the vote by a mile (the next option: Mariner is too closely associated with Rolex).

2 points for consideration:

- the name Worldiver has no link to the original Military theme intended for this watch;

- the name has already been used by Orient on its World Diver.

Ralf, put up the option for Marine and see where the votes go.

Aren't they both called World Timer as opposed to Worldiver though? :)

I love the idea of a quartz. I've got a ton of quartz and autos, and in my growing laziness it's tough to beat set-it-and-forget-it. I love the Worldiver name, too. I'm definitely in for a pre-order as soon as they become available.
