Hello neighbor--I'm over by the harbor, on the bluffs near the wetlands. I lived in LA for most my life, but after several years as an LAPD Rampart Narcotics officer, I had to get the heck out of that county and down to some real civilization. I have my own creative consulting/branding business now, and moonlight as a firearms/tactics instructor for PFT. (much more $ and nobody shoots at me!) I love it here in HB!

I live closer to the 405 off of Beach. :(

I am an investigator with ATF and split my time between my office in Santa Ana and the Division office in Glendale.

Maybe we can meet downtown for drinks and watch talk sometime.

Thanks! I have learned a lot, by reading through the 3T posts, about great watch brands and models that I never knew of. Orsa for example... great company story and cool looking dive watches! I ordered a green/white Monstrum a few days ago--looking forward to strapping it on. I favor unique and bold looking watches--"more is more", so to speak.

I spent my time with the 16th INF as a Company Commander (Bandido Charlie, of course) in Vietnam...but I did go to Boot Camp at Ft Riley during the summer of 1963.  Man, was it hot...and no, I do not miss it!!!:D  I will be going back there for a week or so next summer.

Still keep in touch with things as a member of the 16th Infantry Regiment Association  (http://www.16infantry-regiment.org) and by attending annual reunions of the 1st Infantry Division...the 90th is this August in Colorado Springs!  It is a great honor for this old war dog to help those now on active duty!

That's great Ken. I believe that all Americans should get one vote--but a Vet's vote should count for two.javascript:emoticon('ThumbsUp02.gif',%20'images/emoticons/ThumbsUp02.gif')

Welcome aboard JD! I've found that this is a pretty good place to be. Lots of friendly, knowledgable and welcoming people here. On a more personal note; what type of firearms instruction do you do?

Thanks Murphy J, good to be on board. I'm a certified NRA Firearms Instructor and Range Safety Officer, which covers basic handgun/shotgun/rifle/personal defense/firearm safety in the home... basic civi training. Over at PFT, (Professional Firearms Training), we cover basic-to-advanced CQC (Close Quarter Combat), with handgun, shotgun, and a variety of assault rifles, such as AR15's and SOCOM 2's. As a member of SAG (Screen Actor's Guild), I get a lot of technical advisement gigs teaching the actors how to handle their weapons properly. Fun stuff!

Yes...1911 for me too. My "go-to" gun is my Springfield Armory National Match 1911 45 acp. For defense, my Springfield Armory TRP 1911 .45 acp. Backup is a HK USP Compact in .45 (hope I don't get in trouble here with all this gun talk!)

Thanks Ken... now I really feel at home. Living in the Peoples Republic of California, I've gotten used to keeping my "constitution-respecting, conservative nature" close to the vest.

Big thanks... Great group of people you have here! This is my first real blogging, (if that is the proper word to use), experience, and I'm having a hard time peeling-away to get some work done! Thanks to 3T, I'm buying more watches and working less... I may need an intervention.

I agree. I buy watches on their quality AND the story behind them. Take the Orsa for example: The fact that the founder set out on his own to create a high-quality bold-looking diver watch without jacking the customer with a steep price tag, drew me to buy one, (and put myself on the list for another). As a business owner, I know how tough it is for someone to compete in such a mature market as pro dive watches.

WOW!  A conservative in California.. COOL!  Thats a rare thing!  Glad to meet ya!  I know what you mean about feeling at home.  I did some checking of the site and there are many topics of interest to talk about.  I have found that if you collect one item, you probably collect others.  I have many interests and have found others on this site also do and we can talk about them.  You learn more about the person your talking with imo.  Have fun with the watches, Scott  ThumbsUp02.gif

Jd, I think you're fine with the gun talkhere. There's a few vets and currently serving(myself included) individuals here. I can't help but smile when you say you have a NM Springfield Armory. I have a frame up custom build with a NM Springfield Armory frame(early 90's production), built by Mike Bay. He was trained by Armand Swenson. Between my watches and custom 45's, I think my wife is beside herself:D.

I totally understand... If it wasn't for guns, watches and cars, I'd consider myself a wealthy man. The bulk of my equity is subject to depreciation. Case in point: I purchased an HK USP Elite (6 in barrel, target), which is rather rare in the US. Do I need it?.... NO, but it is RARE and COOL!

My Wife has gotten me so may times with those words, 'do you really need it' or 'I know my baby is a reasonable man and will make the right decision'. I hate hearing those words:D:D. JD, once again, glad to have you aboard. Maybe we can talk guns in a different thread sometime, but right now, I think we've turned this into one of the longest intro's I've seen:). Later Brother.
