Hi everyone. Just playing around with some hide and leather dye. One of the things I like to do with my personal straps is to pick out a small piece of colour from the dial and accent it in the strap. I find it brings out an otherwise forgotten part of the dial. Here are some examples of accenting I've done in the past. Unfortunately I've sold the Bali H'ai so I can't put the new strap on it. On the new strap I decided to edge the strap in blue. I just tossed a quick simple strap together, I'm looking for comments on the colours of the strap. Too much? This strap is meant for the Divers that have the blue and orange hands, like the Bali H'ai, D-Watch, etc. Thanks in advance. Here are the past examples (scroll down for new strap)      New strap

All the straps look good. Of the bunch, however, I'd say the black one (2nd from the top) is most common and very traditional. The last one is also a looker but is the typical default by many strapmakers. Don't get me wrong. I like it the best of all. But just as an input, I'd suggest you dye the middle layer's edges in blue (the sandwiched layer) and then slap on the top and bottom layers and proceed with the regular blue stitches. With this, some of our less-daring WIS might find it more adaptable for daily wear. Another is to use an entire blue leather layer as the middle one. Not only will the edges of the strap be blue but even the middle layers seen through the strap holes will be evident. Nice, simple touch. Of all your straps above, my fave has to be the first one in light gray. I'd distress it a bit more or I'd buy it and purposely get it all scuffed, aged and stained. This one would be perfect for ti cases and in my collection, ideal for my Laco with it's ti-like bead blasted case.

Your straps look great. I like the colour combos. I would love to put a tan strap wit blue highlights on my new CDII. Strap making is something I think I would like to try. where do you guys get your hardware clasps and stuff? Had you worked with leather before or did you just look at a strap one day and say I could do that? Great work.

Like your straps a lot! And completly agree that it`s a good idea to adapt some colour from the watch itselfe, into the strap design. And your straps fit nicly with that dial/hand colour "mix". My favorit of the ones shown, is probably the first one. Just about to start fiddeling with my own strap-making (just for my own watches), so great to see other designs, for inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
