11.gifJust got my new iPad. The UPS guy came huffing up to my door at 11:00 am AZ time to drop it off. He told me he had delivered 120 so far this morning in my area and he had another 120 yet to deliver. The he ran back to his truck. I unpacked the iPad (32GB) and hooked it up. A friend stopped over to drool on it. It fired right up and logged on to the 3T forum. I still haven't taken the plastic off. Pictures below are right out of the box.    |

It's still charging it up. First impression is that the screen resolution is higher than my iTouch and it is much faster. It feels a bit heavier than I expected also. I downloaded Amazon's Kindle app for it to buy books and Netflix for TV and Movies. So far, it is pretty impressive. |

Thanks. This is a device made mostly for consumption rather than creating content. But, that is exactly what I want. This format (others have "pads" coming too) is going to grow and no doubt become less expensive. Given that the first iPOD cost nearly $600 when it was introduced, this isn't too costly for first-adopters like me.  BTW, iWork is available for the iPad for doing lite word processing, keynote presentations and lite spreadsheets. Supports .doc and .pdf also. Attachment: iwork_20100403.jpg (Downloaded 61 times) |

Right now I think the iPad is just the new toy out there, I'm usually the guy to always get the first one on the street...probably going to hold off on this one for awhile....like you said Mike this is a device for consumption not creation. I have a Dell Mini 9 NetBook that I use for my every day business computer, I love it..it's small (can actually easily use it on a plane and not take up the entire tray table, it is light weight and does not take up a lot of room in my briefcase (allowing me to fit more watches in it) and it does everything i need it to do. |

I held of on the pre-order for I wanted to see if Verizon wireless was going to get the iPhone in March as rumored. Did not happen. Now I'm just waiting to see what shows up good in the next 4 to 6 weeks. Contract is up May 14th. What do I want to do? But already boosted my home network with a new PC and a Laptop. And new ISP too. yahoo.gif |

Hey Skip, Verizon was never going to have the iPhone in March, it was always planned for Q4 of this year...the reason is Apple is not scheduled to release the CDMA version of the iPhone until October, the only iPhone available today is GSM and Verizon is a CDMA system...from everything I have read we (meaning Verizon customers) will have iPhones by the end of the year. I'm holding off on my free upgrade until they come out. |

Yea that is what I was reading about Verizon and the iPhone yesterday. Not going to wait that long. This LG Dare piece of crap is driving me nuts. Not going to do a spur of the moment buy again either. Just as with watches, research, research research. LOL A friend told me he had a iPad arriving Monday so will check it out Monday night. |

WOW! Big Congrats, Mike I might a little before I shoot the iPad down. Might be too small for me. I use a small Acer netbook when I'm mobile and even that relatively bigger size gives me problems...but who knows. Please let us know your impressions after some time. Enjoy it in good health. amigo  |

Rumored sales so far are about 240,000, not counting today. At an average price of 600 dollars that comes out to 144 million dollars. Estimates are all over the place on what the total will be after today. We'll see, I guess. Just for the heck of it, I went to the new Apple store in Scottsdale at about 5 PM today. People were still walking out with the iPads and lots of customers were playing with the displays. Just tonight, I downloaded a new app from ABC that lets you view their TV shows with a couple of clicks. It is buggy, but I was able to watch some current shows, free. Kinda cool. |

Keypad is a lot easier to use, especially in landscape mode - keyboard enlarges. Too early to tell on the battery. My wife has a generation one iPhone. Battery life has been fair to good. If you can deal with a less bright screen, turn the brightness down to half or more. My older iPods have batteries that last a REALLY long time. No complaints on any of those. iTouch battery life on second gen. is pretty good. |

The above comments are correct. The WiFi iPad is the only model that is available right now. The other models are coming in 2-3 weeks. For my needs the WiFi is perfect. Below Sales Rumor: The Loop reports that Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster has released a report estimating first-day iPad sales in the range of 600,000-700,000, well above his pre-launch estimates of 200,000-300,000. Quote: Piper Jaffray Senior Research Analyst, Gene Munster, on Saturday said he believes Apple sold between 600-700 thousand iPads on the first day. I have the 3g version and have used it every day since I got it. This thing is awesome!!! Think of it as a portal to the internet and all it can do. The iphone is too small and the laptop is too big. The ipad got it right. Get one...you will be amazed! |

I have enjoyed mine quite a bit so far. It actually does a lot more than I expected. One program I bought for $2.99 allows me to view movies and video's store on my iMac anywhere there is a WIFI connection. I don't have to store them on the iPad. Amazing. |
