I know that many 3T WIS here share a love and passion for cars and motorcycles, in addition to their passion for timepieces, so I thought I’d post up.  I had a milestone 40th B-Day earlier in the week, and as part of the week long lineup of festivities, my incredible wife lined us up for a “Dream Drive” here in Colorado.  The concept here is that you start out early in the morning with 6 exotic rides and drive them over some of the best driving roads around the Rocky Mountains, switching drivers and cars throughout the day so that by day’s end you have driven every car in the lineup.

The lineup for my dream drive – Corvette Z06, Dodge Viper, Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Gallardo, Lotus Elise, and Porsche 993 Carrera S2. happy guy.gif

The owner lead the route in a modified Corvette with the primary goal of giving us the best and most fun driving experience possible!!! (and he succeeded on all fronts…this was no Sunday drive, and we got to push the cars very hard keeping in mind that these were public roads and not a sanctioned track).

Btw…my wife was the only female in a group of 3 that actually took the wheel and drove (although she gave me her time in the Viper, Gallardo, and F430 since I just could not seem to get enough of those).  We went through an ultra tricky curvy section of road with the lead Vette, Lotus Elise, and then us in the Porsche 993…by the end of this passage, my wife had left the Lamborghini Gallardo in the dust and had the owner singing the praises of my wife’s driving abilities…damn that girl can drive. thumbsup.gif  We plan to go back and take the F430 out for an hour or so since she didn’t get to drive that one during the day.

An absolute adrenaline filled day from start to finish, and an experience I will never forget.

The Alpina served wrist duty for the day, so here are a few wrist shots and a few other pics of the day:

Trent, Ian, and Jeff!!!....Thank you guys for the kind words and Birthday wishes!!!! thankyou.gifhappy1.gif

Trent - agree amigo...my wife gets major points here...an experience that I will never forget!

Ian - a great time is an understatement...a world class experience from start to finish. happy guy.gif

Jeff - yes, only one watch for this adrenaline filled day...definitely focused on the driving with a little time keeping to make sure the day didn't end too soon...funny enough, there was a Lotus club driver (his daily driver is a modified Lotus Esprit), that switched shirts everytime we switched cars...crazy.gif....

My grin muscles were completely worn out by the end of the day...my wife and I were amazed at how hard we were able to push these cars during the drive...triple digits were experienced quite often during the drive (especially when things opened up).  So much excess power and handling that those speeds were like a walk in the park. mini me.gif

Congratulations on having what surely must be one of the coolest wifes ever!! What a fantastic treat for your 40th birthday, Chris. I would hazzard a guess this sort of thing might have addictive properties.toon1.gif

Happy Birthday (belated) young man!!

Thanks for the kind remarks and the Birthday wishes Mark! thankyou.gif

Yes indeed, I'm blessed to have the coolest wife ever...an experience that we will never forget!

You are right on regarding the addictive properties of such an experience...addictive indeed, and even had the wife saying...'you know life is really just too short, we should consider adding an un-practical, adrenaline powered machine to the lineup soon'...hey, who am I to argue?thumbsup.gif

What a treat that must have been!
Congrats on the 40th - I can hardly remember what it feels like to be that age!subtlelaugh.gif
Quite a lineup you had there.  Just missing something like a Mercedes SLS in the lineup......
I'm biased, I know......dog smile.gif

Thanks Graham!!!thankyou.gif

One of the coolest things about the experience was being able to drive all of them on the same day, back-to-back...the subtleties of each one including their strengths and weaknesses really came out during the drive.

Oh yes...would have loved to have had an SLS in the lineup!!!thumbsup.gif ....maybe the wife and I should make a trip to Cape Town for a little test drive!!!subtlelaugh.gif Thumbsup3.gif
