I received a few requests for a A1 in bronze and I would like to know what you guys think about.

We have to do 50 pcs and I have no  idea how big the interest really is.

I did my homework and searched through forums and see what others offer, but don't understand how some can offer a bronze watch for about $400

We get it only done by CNC and that is quite expensive

I would appreciate your feedback if you think the bronze trend is over or will still last and there is a market and if you would buy one

If we do it the sales price must be something around 1200 $

thankyou.gif

Might be cool, but IMO the bezel should be solid, not insert.

Who makes a bronze watch for 400$? How often do you have to feed the mini-rat inside running the mvt?dog smile.gif

I think bronze would be very handsome on this design. Would love to see some drawings if you make any changes to the bezel, etc.

$1200 is reasonable for a bronze, with an ETA movement, I think.

Thanks so far , I just needed a little push.
We will do it and I cannot wait to wear it.
It will be done with a solid as a inlay bezel.
I will see how many different dial colors we can get.
As soon as I have more infos I will post it and I will listen to your suggestions but please understand if we an cannot follow all of them.

Chris, Put me down for one
...it will be my first bronze, will it have the same domed crystal? That would be a major plus imho.

I think a price point of $1200 is reasonable. It would need to have the ETA movement and domed sapphire crystal. Solid bronze bezel is MUCH preferred. If you could make it with a dark green dial, brass hands, and vintage lume like on the Panerai PAM 382, that would look SO amazing!

Hi Chris and all friends here:
I am also interested to get bronze A1(s)...and I believe brown dial, dark green dial, or full lumed dial
brass hands
solid bezel with lume
When above matching the highly domed crystal, leave all words in the air...

bronze would be interesting

also an a1 version with a steel insert would also look good imho (similar to typhoon)

would you do bronze bracelet for bronze a1?

So our idea is now 4 dial colors

Black,
dark green, brown and Armida A3 blue
Crown and caseback in titanium
Of course the highly domed sapphire and an ETA 2824 movement
Solid bezel or an  inlay bezel as option
As we don't know how many of each version I will try do do it like a pre order, because in that way you can also choose your case finish and a PVD coating on crown an caseback if somebody is interested
But  no choice for the serial number

The hands will be brass and brushed
Dial design like on the steel A1

Sorry but have to say no for a bronze bracelet .

First it will be much to expensive and second it will turn your wrist black
But we can get  buckles in bronze

Sounds very nice. The dark green would be my choice and the bronze buckle is a nice touch.

Would love to see some drawings of the bezel options.

Cool decision on Ti to go with the bronze.
Please make the Ti as grade 5 Ti but not softer grades...

And the bronze buckle is cool!cool.gif

If we chose the solid bezel, can the all the markers be filled with lume, and not just the 12 o'clock pip?

I would love to have a bronze case with brown dial. This would absolutely be awesome. I know it's early, but any idea of timeframe? Just trying to plan ahead.

I got the first drawings
The colors look different on the screen   we need to get sample dials so see the color in real
I asked for  matching bezel colors but we cannot get , to small quantity
The solid bezel can get all markers with lume  but I need to wait for the next drawing

PVD parts during  pre order is possible

more infos tomorrow

All the dial colors look great! For me, it would be a tough decision between the green and blue.

Just a suggestion, but could you make the text color on the dial in GOLD? This is how it is done on the Golden Tuna, and I think it really works well with the look of the case and hands. White would stick out too much in my opinion.

I thought of another possible improvement. Could you possibly change the rubber strap to 24/22mm with the bronze buckle being 22mm in size?

The current 24/20 strap cannot support the weight of this watch, and a 20mm buckle is honestly too small. Since there is not going to be a bracelet, a 22mm buckle could be reused to fit an Isofrane and a much wider variety of aftermarket straps.

I like this idea, with the addition of the seconds chapter and markers printed in gold.

Looking closely at my A1, I'm not sure if the lume could be applied with enough precision to have the markers printed in gold. If the lume could be centered to show a thin gold border that would be great, but this may be too much to ask.
The text and second track in gold and markers in white might be good tho, as the white border around the markers only shows under magnification.

thankyou.gif for the kind comments

We have now a  NEWS page on our website and inform about the pre order

It will start tomorrow Oct 10th and will end in 14 days.

During this time you can choose your bezel, the case finish and  dial color.
You can get the crown and case back in PVD coated and your solid bezel with or without lumed markers but no choice for the serial number sorry

I agree with bobabreath and the text will be also in gold like the minute markers

We cannot get this rubber strap in 24/22mm so it will be the regular A1 rubberstrap and the bronze buckle 20mm, but it will be more solid than the steel buckle

We need a $199 non refundable deposit and the pre order price will be $1199 including the shipping fee.

If you like to pre order please only per email to info@armidawatches.com

The production time will be about 6 month
Order is sent so we estimate the watches early March 2012

Sorry sir but you are dead wrong on this one.  The 385.00 Magrette is solid CuSn8 bronze.  And Dion did this without charging more than his PVD version of the same watch.  Granted it only has a Miyota 8215 just like the Miyota version of the A-1 and is only water resistant to 150 feet but damn it looks good and gets better as it patinas.....Not a very nice post sir......

Very nice watch and I am glad you explained why the high cost.   I own one of those 400.00 bronze watches and they are nice they and really look good when they patina also they use the same CuSn8 bronze .  He may have gotten a deal as he made 500 to start and sold them all and is making an additional 500 next year and the water resistance is only 150 feet  Honestly if you could lower the price more I think you could sell 100's of these as many people shy away from bronze due to these huge price increases from the same model......just a though

I remember to the bronze-discussion with Kazimon last year.
dog smile.gif
Its a lot harder to work with bronze like CuSn8 than stainless steel and therefor a lot more expensive too.
400 $ for a CuSn8 bronze watch (same alloy use Panerei) are miraculous.

I know I am very late to this discussion, but I would pay for quality titanium with an ETA-2824-2 movement.

The A1 is a beautifully designed watch making it heavier is in the opposite direction that I would prefer.

Chris, I just recieved a shipping notice for the A-1 bronze, that I had just placed the $199.00 deposit two weeks ago.
Is this correct? I thought you said they wouldn't be ready until the spring.

Please let me know if this is a mistake or not, besides I have not paid the balance, so I assume this is wrong, but something is being shipped, there's a tracking number...

Dear Chris:

your website says: Estimated delivery in April 1212...

Than my bronze A1s will already have a lot of patina when I get them...And a greater chance that they are already ash now...278.gif278.gif

Any bronze alloy is heavier than S.Steel...
Around 10% depending of the bronze alloy. So the difference isn't so bad.

Thanks. The regular A1 isn't a ball buster weight wise to begin with so I'm happy it's not too much more.

P.S.
The idea of a titanium version is interesting, though hardly as exciting to look at as a nice bronze watch with patina. ThumbsUp02.gif

Some WIS don't like much the titanium versions as they don't feel the weight as much as before and maybe experience it as way too light to have a good presence... It's a matter of taste.
A superdome crystal add some weight as well on a regular watch.
But I don't own any Armida and couldn't tell how an original S.Steel feels on the wrist.
For the patina, you will have more nuances and possibilities with the bronze models than the titaniums even they tend to take a small patina sometimes.
