I only heard about this earlier today. Sad. In Italy for a film festival and dead of a (claimed) heart attack at 51.

For many reasons, mainly because I am a bloke and I liked the way the characters dealt with liars, cheats and thieves, Sopranos was my favourite TV show of all time. I remember distinctly that the series raised issues about violence towards women (very bad) and revenge against vindictive teachers (not so bad... :) ).

I treasure every Soprano season's box set, and I (on the ofdd occasion) replay that stupid last few minutes of the last season to see if I can telepathically work out what happens. I still can't. Guess it is better that way...

It was an interesting gesture to give workmates and friends the signature series Kobolds as a parting gift. Pretty much a watch guy, I guess.

I did not like every character he played in his movie and HBO careers. I did not know the man personally. But he will be missed, and my respects and condolences go out to his family at what must be a very sad time for them.

RIP big guy.

I was watching an episode of Inside the Actors Studio that
featured James Gandolfini. He may be remembered for his role
in the Sopranos, but my fondest memory of him was in the film
Get Shorty, where he played a stuntman named "Bear".
