Haha! Good eye, and good reason. Come on military folks!

When working on or around aircraft, you MUST remove all jewelery, pens, pencils, badges etc.. . that may fall off your person and become FOD (Foreign Object Debris)

There's nothing worse than travelling at Mach 1.2 at 40000 ft and the pen that some schmuck dropped into your plane a week prior decides to lodge itself in your ECS system causing a massive shutdown.

Yeppers and FOD can really mess up the day in more ways than one.

You don't want anything loose on your person. I did at least 5000 FOD walk downs in my day and that is a very low side guestimate.

I saw a pair of dog tags come off a rookie who did not know any better trash a A7 Corsair on the flight deck one night. Talk about allot of pissed off folks.

Seems like I always have the camera, limiting the ability of others to take pictures of me drooling or otherwise embarassing myself, so I dont have any pictures of me. Took this on the web cam, hence the dorky pose. Makes my melon look even larger then it already is

Skip,

Thanks

I saw the Ocean 7 LM1 for the first time when I bought the Silver Surfer and now wish that I bought them both. Love the the Ocean 7, worry about the bills later! It's tough to set the watch budget priorities with a wife. Skip- I expect you to jump in here...

After having a card board box for a crib I never looked back. Relationships never worked for me for I am one who dose what i what when I want to. In the navy on the evaluation forms I always did very well but more often than not in the comments area they would put "Non-conformist" for I did things my way. LOL

And talk about way back when pix. I really has a box for a crib. My mother was very poor.

I know they are getting huge.  It is really going to be funny having daughters that are taller than the parents.

I have a chance for redemption Erika has a chance to be shorter than me, but I think the big and little one are going to put me to shame.

Thanks Pax, have a good one.

It took I do not know how many years to get that shot, I think I got lucky that day.

Great pic man!!!

Your life is moving fast now, wait until you get to be an old fucker, and you have the time to think about capturing the moment and keeping it close.  By that time your hips hurt, disks have herniated due to the impacts that your back has taken over the years from when you are running on pure adrenalin.

Stay in the moment, have safe one.

I'll be 37 this year. I'm pretty much considered an old f***ker by 90% of the guys I'm serving with right now, and there are times when I feel it:D. Yes, my life is moving fast now, especially since I thought I was done having kids until I met this girl. My oldest is a 19yr old boy and his brother just turned 17. The newest addition is due June 7th.

Looking over these pics had me go through some of mine here. This one had me siting back chillin. I was weighing in at over 250 pounds then. Now give or take a couple pounds I'm at a steady 215 pounds. I can now breath when tyeing my shoes and best yet blood pressure is way down now. :)

More recent pic, last November at my boys' birthday party wearing the Seiko MOAQC:

The kids grow up way too fast!  It seems like yesterday I was holding my older son as a baby, now he's a teenager

Cheers,

Here's me lost in Canada somewhere. In addition to the backpack, they tell me I must carry a 50 lb. canoe on my head! They call it a "portage", I call it "Why am I not simply backpacking with a twenty pound pack, wading across the streams"

Yep my US home is in Wyoming , I spend most of my time there , I have a leather studio that I plan to move one day, but as with most things i procrastinate a bit lol.

Worse thing with the area is no PO for 50 miles and 11 of those are back country off road to get to the Highway, but the noise is no problemo , I shoot and make some racket, but NEVER a complaint from the neighbors lol, the nearest is 7 miles or so away.

Great places for privacy, I don't do the people thing to well, so I prefer isolation, sold a 1000 acres in Mt and moved south to Wy a few years ago, and set up a home and studio here.

As to horsepower.

two great ways to unleash some ponies.

1 horse power and 200 horse power.

Cool Idea.  Who doesn't want to die and come back as shane, BTW?

A couple of quick abd dirty's from the last family camping trip.

Pasty white guy, dying for a sunburn.  That lake is bigger than it looks from land... and after a couple of beers.

Next is a fam pic halfway up a small mountain in the lakes region of NH.

LOL.  Too Funny.  Kudos on the rescue dogs, Shane.  My lab mix is a rescue.  9 months old.   75 lbs of mouth and clumsy.  Best darn dawg I've ever owned.

New England is good, but I've always been drawn to the mountains.  The kind you get in the Rockies/midwest.  Not these old slouching kind of mountains we have here in the east.

It's fun seeng all you in your element.....  Outside the Watch forums I mean.

Steve, great stuff I love labs LOL about the clumsy and mouthy, to funny, I have two Labs one is 140lb Big dog just had a blown out knee op, same thing last year, $3,000 and worth it,and another delicate little baby with a messed up crippled leg (no one wanted her ) so a home she had to  have, how could I have not, also got a flat coat retriever, (THE BEST DOG I have ever known) Have a Basset hound and a welsh corgi, still room for more though, fact is if I was not so busy I would seriously consider opening a home for Dogs /cats that people throw away.

Never really been a great people person, but Animals ALL day.

Thanks Paxman... Don't know what such fine ladies are doing with a salty dog like me. As far as elevation, it was around 7000 ft.

Personally, I loved how Big Bear/ Lake Arrowhead area was 20 years ago, when it was less developed, and much less crowded— it still has a bit of charm left though. The young eagles were practicing their glides and dives over the lake.

The cool thing about that trip was that I got to introduce snow to both my daughter and my new FJ Cruiser! My wife calls the FJ my "patty wagon" cause it looks like my old LAPD NET (Narcotics Enforcement Team) Team van, when I was on the job.

We live at the beach, (per my wife), but I'm rather a "Mountain Man" at heart. The smell of pine trees is a major Zen thing for me.

I used to live in Huntington Beach....I won't tell you how long ago, I'll just tell you I bought a brand new 3BR/2BA house with fenced yard and deck a couple of blacks off the beach for $21,000...mistake.gif

1968...It was a model home built by Williams just before he started developing the city of Irvine.  One of the last homes built in that area with raised flooring and crawl space.  Since it was a model home, it came with all of the "California" extras; covered deck, fireplace, super upgraded carpeting and tile, fence, hybrid Bermuda lawn with sprinkler system (in those day, they just threw seed on most lawns), upgraded cabinetry & appliances, redwood deck furniture, wallpaper, upgrade custom paint, finished upstairs "bonus" room, shrubs, flower garden and olive tree.

GI Bill...$200 to move in...then I left for "Nam!!!mistake.gif  Sold it a couple of years later for over $40k...probably a $million home by now!

I know...it is amazing...I was born and grew up during a time of world war and rationing.  It used to amaze me when I heard my parent's friends talk about dirt roads, travel by horse & buggy and no airplanes.  I used to think what a transition that would have been to live thru, and then I think about my own life span and seeing the advent of Jet travel, the Interstate system, television, calculators, desktop and laptop computers so much more powerful than the IBM multi-million $ computer rooms of of the 1980's....universal cell phone service, the internet, satellite communications and space travel...WOW!

Teddy I have not touched a comb in years. Never let it grow long enough. I trim it weekely. June - August I even go tighter. :)

Find your sister someone more human. I'm just to much of a Dawg. Unless you absolutely hate your sister. LOL :D

Tried the relationship stuff years ago. I'm to much of a loner and free spirit not to mention selfish.

Hello, My name is Steve Laughlin. Here is a photo of me with my daughter at a vintage air show near where I live in Kansas. I am standing in front of a vehicle with destructive capabilities and wearing a Seiko 007 with MKII mods and a rubber bezel guard I got from a guy online in the Philippines.

I sold that Seiko to fund a Benarus Sea Devil, then I ended up rebuilding Ralf's website. After that I met Keith and I redesigned the Boschett website.

I am not as much a collector as I am a user and abuser, so I tend to sell watches I don't wear. My current collection includes a Marathon GSAR, a Debaufre Csar... and a Blue Sea Devil and Yellow Reef Ranger that are on the way!

Thanks for reading,
Steve Laughlin

I'm a sucker for pics with children and parents/grandparents together, so here it is!

'Tis been a while, the kid was yet to complete his first year (he's three now!) astride Grandpa's shoulders:

If I can scoop one with him that's more recent, I'll post it up!

Cheers,

My Daughter, Grace, had to do a report about "community helpers" for her kindergarten class. She chose our local Firefighters:

Somehow I just chanced upon this long thread and enjoyed it just as much as the watches. Horological faces, anatomical faces. I am trying to reconcile the avatars with the real faces and the choice of watches. Hey Skip, your photo is not the one my satellite 38 kilometers above the earth has on its databanktoon1.gif......

I noticed that too, but what really caught my eye was the fact that Hammer said it was the end of summer and he's wearing a Big Thick Sweater under what looks like insulated bib overalls. If he needs to wear that during summer, I'm not too sure I want to see winter subtlelaugh.gifsubtlelaugh.gifsubtlelaugh.gif.

From Murphy about my pic : "I noticed that too, but what really caught my eye was the fact that Hammer said it was the end of summer and he's wearing a Big Thick Sweater under what looks like insulated bib overalls. If he needs to wear that during summer, I'm not too sure I want to see winter ."

Well,I found out exactly! It wasn't the end of summer: It was the 22 of june 2009 at 05:34 AM...My girlfriend recalled that it was low temperature at this time: Down to 0 grades Celsius at night.
It's very light because still in june, we got 24/24h sunlight: The "midnight sun" as it's called.
I just got a wool-knited sweater over a coton t-shirt and the overalls are not insulated, they are just hunting overalls in cotton from carhaart;).

And this is me in action on a tourney we did some weeks ago...

Cool pics ral. Nice to meet ya!:)
reminds of my teenage years when I used to waterski(mono/single as well) daily on the Mediterranean all summer. Good times. I had a O'Brien combi and Reflex competition series. Do these brands even exist now?:)

No watch or wedding ring while skiing. Not good for the watch, as many seals might not be able to resist a 60 MPH impact against water (or the crystal to resist a hard impact with the ski on a fall). But, more important, if tangled in the rope it can lead to losing the watch or even peeling your hand off... Engine on the boats we use are V8 5.7-6.0, ranging between 340 and 420 HPs...

Yep, the engines are pretty powerful.

Linking waterskiing with time, competition boats have a GPS based speed control that is far more sophisticated than the ones in cars. It samples speed 20 times per second to compensate for any pull variance from the skier and adjust speed.

At 55 KPH (34.2 MPH), the exact time to go thru the competition course (259 m) is 16.95 seconds. The system keeps the time almost always @ 16.95 and never below 16.94 or over 16.96, regardless of how strong the skier is, wind, etc...

I thought I would ressurect this post with an updated photo...

This is a picture of me and my youngest on scout camping trip last weekend.

We were camping in the Osceola National Forest in North Florida. We are standing on a, 86 foot long, land bridge on the Florida Trail. Our troop built this bridge a year ago for an Eagle Scout project. Both, Samuel and I, helped to build this bridge. This camping trip was our first chance to go back and see it. If you look closely below my right knee you can see the plaque that we put on the bridge this year.

Overall it was pretty cool to see what we built standing strong! ThumbsUp02.gif

BTW - If your interested I am wearing my Suunto Core and my son is wearing his Luminox Black Ops

I replied to the Mug Shot section a few months ago - let me know and I'll tranfer across here.

BTW, brother, I hail from Crete. Chania is one of the most beuatiful places in the world (well, I would say that) but also one of the hottest in August. Your feet must have been steaming in those motorcycle boots!

It's a nice place but after a week, I missed home! Hehehe
It was from 38 celsius to 22 during the day.
I wear Addison safety toe boots there: Been wearing similar boots the last 24 years and I love it.

Hahaha! That was a good one! By the way, I was on the Avalon bar in Chania and saw some Greek youngsters with A.Amarth & Cannibal.C shirts: Seems like the global warming didn't work as planedtoon1.gif
Hoo, Sepultura: Saw them in 92 for the Arise tour, just before they started to crap it all...
Anyway: Maybe we should stick to the thread and see some faces?
