So, I recently underwent a hunt for a heavy duty bracelet to wear on my Marathon SAR. The SAR OEM bracelet, would have been my first choice but I just didn't want to spend $150.00. My next choice was the Watchadoo. However, I wanted it quickly & didn't want to get into a bidding war & then have to wait for shipping from overseas.

I was a bit bummed out because I was having trouble finding an alternative. That's when I discovered the seller "bandfever" on the bay. $35.00 later & I'm now waiting for this little beauty to arrive.

This appears to be an almost identical version of the bracelet that yamahaki  recently posted here with the exception of the polished outer links. And herein lies the root of the potential upcoming saga. I don't think that I will like this polished/brushed combo on a tool watch such as the SAR. So I fear that I will have to some home brew cosmetic surgery & change to a complete brushed finish. The problem is that I tried this once before, by using a green Scotch Brite pad, with mediocre results.

Can anyone offer some stainless steel brushing techniques? I know that there are some jewelry spefic products out there, but I don't want to have to order anything else off the internet right now. I have a dremel tool & have heard about Scotch Brite attachments for it, but I can't seem to find the attachments locally.

Don't know anything about doing the brushing myself but that looks to be a good score on the bracelet.

Looks to be good steel and a duel deployment at that price. WOW! Just that clasp alone can cost that. :)

And the link shape and setting looks like it will be rather comfortable. ;)

I've had good luck with a 150 grit 3M Sanding Sponge (the red kind). The key is to lay the bracelet flat and brush in ONE direction only, not go back and forth.

There are other brands of sanding sponges out there, but some do not work well for this at all. I only recommend the red 3M kind.

BTW- I have one of those bracelets and it's great. WAAAAY better than the price would suggest!

cool10.gifLooks like a great quality SS bracelet....I do not see any 1/2 links for micro-sizing though.

You can also try one of those boards for polishing fingernails. They are stiff foam about 6" long and about 1/8" thick, usually with 4 grades of abrasive on them.

The coarsest is too coarse, like fine sandpaper and the finest will put the polished finish back on. But the other two are perfect for what you need, the foam molds to the curved contours and if you are careful and go in straight lines, you can restore the brushed finish to almost perfect factory condition.

VERY important to remember! (If you don't believe it, try a few back and forth strokes at the beginning of the job, you'll see.)
