I personally would have a hard time accepting his payment requirements.  I know he has 100% rating but I would have a hard time trusting someone enough to send a money order.

It is a nice price but not so nice considering what he paid for the Lume Dial!

I too find it hard to make an unprotected purchase on eBay.

I agree.I did not read the sellers terms. Already own a lume SA and waiting on a Monstrum to be delivered. I've noticed many of the vintage pocket watch sellers on the Bay do not except Paypal, which is somewhat understandable given the age and complications of the watches being sold.I would not feel comfortable paying with anything other than Paypal for the Orsa auction though.
Thanks for the heads up JC hand6.gif

If he's a WIS I would expect the sale to have been offerred at one forum or another first rather than the Bay. I haven't been in the market so it very well could also be listed on one of the forums. I'll do money order or check to someone I "know" from a forum but on the Bay I like a layer of so-called protection.

No paypal because he doesn't wanna pay the fees.  Yes I agree, he should have offered this in the watch forums for sale.  People usually pass on the Paypal fees to the buyer so he should've done that but that's just me.  Heck of a deal though.

Hucky, the seller might of had negative experiences in the past with Paypal. If thats the case, I feel for him/her. I'm not a fan of Paypal either.

Oagaspar. as far as Paypal being the same or similiar  to a money order ....I would have to disagree.By using a trusted credit card(any card from USAA imho) you gain  a valuable advantage if the seller flakes.

I'm not dogging the above seller, with his perfect rating theres no reason to think he is anything less than honest.

Preferred payment can depend on experience. I don't do wire or paper checks anymore and after USPS discontinued online MO I quit using those too. I only use paypal now. Backed up with a CC I'd let the issuer deal with any issues and if they don't come through I'll just borrow dads attorney to rip them a brand new one. LOL :D

I said paypal and M.O were the same or similar?...I stated that "I" don't see the difference, referring to this situation and may be I should have said to me it made no difference:?...a simple e-mail to the seller could be all it takes...I have sent M.O's to sellers on forums many times as when paypal 1st came around this very same discussion came about....no one trusted paypal.... I was buying watches online and on forums way before there was paypal subtlelaugh.gif .... there are still those who won't pay their bills online for the same reason and don't have paypal or use it at all and will get a nice deal on 2 watches cause' they only deal in M.O's.... mistake.gif

Oagaspar, I missed your qualifier "in this situation" in your first post.Sorry.
I see your point for a "in this situation" transaction, there would be no reason not to cut out the middleman if there was a comfortable trust between the buyer and seller.
