in the USA anymore:D Of course I know they are, but for me............my last 5 sales have been:

1) Singapore

2)Thialand

3) Switzerland

4) Canada

#5 went to Mike Wright there in Arizona

Anyone else finding this to be true. My thinking is the low value of the American dollar is making our stuff attractive.

Lot's of foreign investment with our weak dollar. This is maybe the second time in my 48 years that the Canadian dollar is pretty much on par with the US:?

Tony, Skip and Huck - you are all correct. My Aussie dollar buys almost 92 cents US today so I am buying a fair bit and selling not so much. On my last few visits to the states (there have been 5 all up over the last 7 years), the AUD has been as low as 67 cents US. It is always the same - buy when your currency is worth more, sell at your advantage, too. Of course - on a watch that is a couple of hundred dollars, the currency fluctuations from one week to another make little if any difference. But on some very high ticket items - you gotta take the deal where it costs you less.

How many of you guys here will only sell to a USA buyer? Not being uppity - just asking! To me-  a WIS is a WIS is a WIS and it makes no difference, but I have noticed that "local deals" are regularly preferred by many US and EU sellers. Is it because of the hassles with Customs? Filling in forms? Not adding enough to cover shipping and insurance? Keeping it in the US? Don't trust foreign transactions?

And remember I am not complaining - just asking! Nicely!

Cheers - IanM ThumbsUp02.gif

Iv'e sold many items to buyers outide the US boarders: Canada, Germany, UK, France and Australia. There are several other countries I will not sell to because of known problems in there delivery systems. A foreign buyer needs to use paypal though for the sale.

I dont sell outside of US for a couple reasons

The buyer always makes you feel like your not trustworty with a million questions and you really have to work to make the guy feel comfortable. I hate feeling like im a thief.

There is a few pieces of paperwork to fill out and every buyer wants you to put something differnt, like gift, repair etc... and a value on the customs forms and the price of shipping is always different when I go to the post office.

Buyers send you theyre address and its never written the way it needs to be and then its a pain to figure out how to fill out the form

The people that work at the post office just are no help at all, they are just there to achieve theyre 8 hours and go home. Must be a rewarding Job.

sorry bout the rant

Because of high import taxes, most buyers want you to make false statements about what is in the package (a crime in the US).  ...then, it can only be insured (at best ) for the amount declared.  Shipping charges are high and there is the "paperwork", but the paperwork alone is not enough to make it unreasonable.

What I really hate is that most foreign custom "units" are extremely slow and inefficient.  A package can get overseas in a matter of a couple of days, and then sit in customs for weeks on end...then comes the ranting, raving and accusations from the buyer...."you didn't send it", "you lost it", "I want my money back", paypal disputes, etc...and you eat up your life for selling a $200 watch overseas!

I actually had a watch I shipped back to pokemonyu for replacement arrive in Singapore 2 days after I mailed it.  It then sat in SIN Customs for 6 weeks prior to delivery to pokemonyu!
