Here is a question: Is it wrong to covet a Cartier Pasha? When do you cross the line from a guy who is into watches --which I think we'd all agree is a great type of guy to be-- and become just a guy who likes to wear jewlery? Yesterday, I passed a Cartier store on the street and saw this watch, the Pasha... not the exact model in the photo below, but close enough, and I can't get it out of my head. This is bad on two levels: 1- way too expensive. For me, this would be grounds for divorce if purchased, so that's bad. and 2- while the watch definately does something for me aesthetically, I'm wondering if it isn't almost too pretty of a watch, to where it begins to feel like just wearing a bracelet which isn't something I would normally do. And then I got to questioning my whole watch obsession. Do I really just like jewlery? If watches were in necklace form, would I wear one? I don't think so. But why? My dad use to toss out that "To each their own..." often when I was a teenager. It is all a matter of personal taste. My kid brother likes that brand but it's not for me. I have a wide area of watch types I do like though. Now and then I will wear a ring on my finger and sometimes a neck chain. Just depends on how I feel at the moment. Don't sweat how others see you is what I say. Go for what you like. You have to make yourself happy. No 2 WIS are the same and that is another part of what makes all this fun. I find my taste even changes a little from time to time. ;) Just don't pis off the wife. And you should be safe. LOL

That is good advice. you get to thinking about what you value in a nice watch, and generally it is engineering, innovation and design, all put together in the right performance. I guess it is a guilty pleasure when you find yourself in love with a watch that has a disproportionate amount of any one of the 3. I'd probably also feel guilty wearing a super complex ulysse nardin skeleton with a ton of complications and delicate engraving on allof the mechanisms. Forunately, at my budget, I won't have to worry about these problems for a long time...goofy

Nah... my grail are 2... the new JLC diver and the UN Maxi Diver white dial... I would do anything to get both... except sacrifice what I would have to sacrifice to get them... so right now they both remain a pipe dream... and a dang good one I might add... although the UN is not too far out of reach one day.
