All I did was ask about my # 66 preordered Ocean 7 proplof ...... my thread was deleated in seconds ...... I was just wondering when I could expect ? It was last fall when I sent $250.00 ..... They said Jan or Feb ..... I know there are delays ..... I just want to know when and why ???? Is this unreasonable to ask ???? Does anyone here know the scoop ?

Not sure but Ocean7 seems to be behind on it big time. I've seen a few post vanish over there and I had one about the LM4 vanish a few months back.:? With a deposit in you would think Mitch would do better by his customers. Hope someone has a answer for ya CJ and a good one. ;) I'm not going to bother buying any O7 watches new anymore. If something is to my liking I'll wait for one to flip. LOL :D

As a fellow LM-7 preorder, I'll chime in here.  Mitch says he has all the movements in stock, but its that case factory in China that keeps on delaying things.  The official line is "they have orders for 50,000 cases, and our order of 300 cases takes a low priority."  Now I am not sure how "low priority" can translate to something like a 9 month delay, but then I don't really know what goes on at O7.  They do have a fanatical following and I have both an LM-1 and LM-6, both of which are very nice watches, but the price I paid for both are at the limit of what I think they are worth.

I emailed Mitch today to ask what the official specs of the LM-7 are, since I cannot find them anywhere.  So right now I have a rough idea of what the dimensions will be, but no idea what the WR rating is, what movement it will use (O is right that it will be either 2824-2 or SW200), whether the crystal is AR coated, what dial it will use, what hands, etc....

There was some brief mention that the bezel will have lumed numerals and some sort of sapphire coating, but who knows whether they will get that done since I've heard nothing about it.

I really expect more delays.  Get ready for the excuse of "in August the Swiss watchmakers take their month long holidays" in the coming weeks.  I find it hard to believe they all pack up shop and close for a month!  What a way to run a business.

In the end, like all long projects, it will be delivered and people will sing its praises.  Outsiders will come in and say "I wish I got in on this, do you want to sell it to me?" not realizing that the delay has been over a year already.

what does the Swiss closing up shop for Aug. have to do with a Chinese casemaker when it's the case you are saying that is holding everything up...are you saying these watches are Swinese?:D....and what was Mitches reply to your e-mail Eric?

... I remember Poul saying that his Korsbek cases being made by Fricker was delayed due to larger projects that take priority as the production crews get nice bonuses for completeing these larger orders on time or earlier...this made sense to me and Poul even offerred refunds for anyone who wanted their deposits back and kept everyone up to date even if he had no news ...and he deliveredhand6.gif.

...100 pre-orders at $250. each and non-refundable for the O7 Plop is a lot of coin to be sitting on imo for quite some time now and no light being shed on the subject for months as those who paid wait patiently seems illogical as someone definitely knows something...and like all project watches a certain amount of these will hit the sales forums as well face4.gif

...I waited some time for my PRS-20 LE from Eddie/Timefactors but he took no money from anyone and kept everyone up to date on the going's on regardless of the news he had....and he deliveredThumbsUp02.gif

No reply from Mitch yet, but he seems like an upstanding guy.

I've never heard what contract company O7 uses to assemble their watches in Switzerland.  For the LM-1, I believe they used Cattin, which is the same company that did the work on the Swiss Made versions of the Orsa Sea Angler (Silver and Lume dials).

Update: I'm so blind.  The specs are right on their status stick post:

Upstanding guy? Well if you discount a complete lack of communication to his customers. Seemed able to communicate when he took their deposits but heaven forbid anyone want any more information.

This just makes O7 look like jerks imho and coupled with the non-transferable warranty BS insures I won't ever buy another one of their derivative who knows what movement is in it pieces. Like they give two shits anyway.

Never never hesitate... always always communicate.

Frankly I'll be surprised if anyone ever sees this abomination!!crap.gif

Completely agree with the "always communicate" idea - delays happen from time to time, and I always appreciate it if I get an honest answer, and not the run around.

Mitch has always replied to my emails within the same day, and thats good enough for me.  Oh and about the warranty, yeah it should be transferrable.  Only excuse I can think of why it isn't is for them to avoid repairing watches.

I'm not holding my breath for the LM-7 after my deposit has been held for a year now.  Oh well, what can one do?  It will show up at some point and I'm sure it will be a nice watch.

Grrr - I can feel another rant coming on... mistake.gif

Canadajo - like you, I am one of the fluffy bunnies who paid a deposit a year or so ago. I expected a few months, I got a year. Ah well - more time to get others, I say. The money for the LM-7 has been in my Paypal account, then out, then in, then out...  and on it goes. Mitch might not like having to wait until the funds are there to pay for LM-7 number 111, but I guess it is fair that he wait a little bit, too, if the account is empty when the thing miraculously appears. He did say he would take Paypal for the remainder. And it cost me another $50 in fees to make a direct bank to bank payment from the international currency division of my Aussie bank to his US one...

Only recent news on what was the most talked about Ocean 7 ever, and is now the most UNtalked about Ocean7 ever (other than between those who want one) is that Mitch was going to make the bezel a quick-change (removable, replaceable with others) type. That died cos the watch was "too far into the production schedule". Projected delivery is quoted by O7 as August/Sept. I expect October and would not be surprised if it was November. But no biggie - it isn't like it is the only watch I will ever own. Down the track, there will be the SS bracelet (don't want one cos I have an Omega mesh), display goodies (dont need or want) and a PVD version too (not needed either). The little acorn has become an unmanageable Oak, IMHO.

I do not agree with the removal of posts that ask uncomfortable questions - that is why we have forums in the first place - unsolicited uncensored feedback on all matters watch related - no matter how dumb the question (and I am just talking about some of MY Qs here...). OK - unfounded allegations, reputation smearing, sour grapes and unreasonable comments should be counter-argued off the boards. But it is a bit like being able to edit your own ebay feedback, isn't it?

Yep - that is a lot of coin to sit on for a year. But I guarantee that we will have short memories after it is delivered.

If.        Ever.

I call it the WIS's curse - "...you will forget the last fight when you are making love...".

By the way, this also works as "you can forget the last fight you had with your wife when you are making love to her beautiful sister", but you know what I mean subtlelaugh.gif. Or do you??? hehehe. All I mean to say is that the present dramas will be forgotten when the watch arrives, or when you get another watch that makes you forget (had to clear that up cos not sure how it translated and didnt want to offend anyone...).

I have handled a few models of the Ocean 7 line.. and in all honesty I think they are solid $500-600 watches... but they are not nicely finished, in reality kinda rough, ragged, sharp tooling edges and marks in many places... PVD coating was poorly done... certainly I cannot believe the prices some are paying for the O7 watches.. and it seems that Mitch raises his prices all the time kinda like Doxa...  product stays the same... price go up...

Hopefully I didn't offend anyone that owns one... after all it is just a watch, and just how I feel about them...  I would buy the the LM6 for $500... but not for $899 plus bracelet or whatever they are sell for..

LM7 exluded from the price thing above.. b/c I do understand the lure of a homage to the legendary Omega.
