From reading older posts on this forum, I see it is an ongoing struggle of choices, choices, choices.....
I'm off on a 3 week trip on the weekend.  First stop Philadelphia, then spending a few days at the Hershey Fall meet in PA.  After that on to Germany for two weeks.

As usual, the question bodes: What ticker to take?:?

My GMT II seems the logical choice, but I also have a very interesting dual time big face watch from Eastern origin that I've used before. Called a Schaffer, it boasts an automatic movement with date, day and hour complications. The small unit on the left is a quartz movement.  Although bulky, the watch wears very well and keeps excellent time.

Of course the Rolex is the ultimate (I don't have any other dual time / GMT watches) but there is no need to impress anyone on this trip (leisure), and there is always the niggling thought of losing such a piece.....

I'm also picking up two watches I bought recently, and kept for me in PA.  One is a Vostok Europe Red Square (my first Russian!) and the other a vintage rectangular 14k white gold omega.  Can't wait!

Attached, a quick cellphone pic of my Schaffer for reference.

Looking forward to the pics of the others. That Schaffer is a eye catcher and conversation piece for sure. Have a great trip. ;)

That Schaffer is a neat looking watch.  It looks like a monster.  How does it wear?

What better excuse...take a not GMT watch and scour the Euro watch shops for a GMT to bring home...the VAT is refundable!

It is heavy - make no mistake - but it wears surprisingly well. The very wide strap seems to stabilise it well. Once it warms up to your arm, it feels great!

I actually just bought it as a conversation piece, but it wears so well that I might take it on the 3 week trip.  I get more compliments about this watch than most others!   Surprisingly it is very accurate for an Asian timepiece.

Forget taking the GMT, take a nice comfortable sports watch like a seiko diver...no worries.

Find yourself a nice german watch store and grab something way out there....modern, haus...or find a nice Martin Braun.

The GMT Master II it is.

After wearing it for the last few days to help me decide, I fell in love with this watch all over again.....smile25.gif

I even took out the packaging material, tags and booklet while renewing my vows...:)

I will report back when I return towards the month end.
