I have been sitting on this info of another eta clone entering the WIS marketplace for a couple weeks until my sources could verify it but it is true and what you will read below is based on what I have heard from a few sources close to subject of Swiss/German watchmaking and movements. The Unitas C-1 as it is called at this point an eta clone much like the 2824 and sw200 is being marketed and offered through Fricker at this time in their German made watches and right now is rumored to be German/Swiss made.....now not to confuse anyone the name Unitas is not owned by eta as is the 6497 and 6498 ...2 movements which we are all fond of and we continue to call the Unitas 6497 and 6498 respectfuly but in the eta catologue they are listed as eta 6497 and eta 6498.ETA does not own the name Unitas. The Unitas C-1 will be a mechanical automatic with rotor and apparenlty early reports to the owner and producer of this movement point to Rick Marei of Doxa and possibly a family member of the once owned Unitas brand....but so far only Ricks name is being mentioned as the producer/owner of this new movement along with Fricker as the only one offering this movment in upcoming watches. Both parties have a long history in watchmaking and a great reputation imho. There is as always some speculation as to it's original origin...meaning is it truly Swiss Made or does it contain Asian parts and only being Swiss/German assembled...again this is speculation and I invite anyone closer to this movement and information to expound and clarify as to it's origin and availaiblilty. I look forward to hearing more about the Unitas C-1 and personally seeing one in the near future but until then or if anyone with hardcore facts comes forward all we can do is debate, discuss and speculate on the forthcoming Unitas C-1 which right now some watch vendors are calling it the "German Unitas" ![]()

Sounds interesting, Oscar. I'm intrigued by the combination of Unitas and Doxa.

Sounds like a promising movement at the very least. If done properly and widely available this may be something we all become closely acquainted with in time. Imho, this could be very good news for all of us.:D Of course, I would prefer its origins to be Swiss...

So that was what this "German Unitas" was all about ;) I'm glad to see more companies entering in the game. The more different movements, the better. Hopefully this C1 will have its own personality. Stowa will also build movements starting 2009, under the resurrected brand name "Durowe".

good news about Stowa Eric...TYhand6.gif ...also Mike Koblod will be manufacturing his own movement found with the help of his long time friend/mentor and owner of Chronswiss Gerd R-Lang ....a old stock(NOS) of movemnts from a defunct Swiss watch manufacturer who fell to the quartz revolution and will be reworked and recalibrated to be a Kobold movement along with Kobold bringing in CNC machinery to his headquarters in Pennsylvania to produce his own cases! yahoo.gif

I have got one prototype of the Unitas C-1 in my possession. I timed it and asked my watchmaker to have a look at it. Then timed it on the machine. In our opinion, its a pretty good movement. Reliable and accurate.
