There is no money in it for the OEM manufactures.  With the growth of the Oriental Co. using Swiss equipment and tech. the future selling points will be a higher numbers of higher precision, serviceable, and long lasting movements.

This is an emotion business, and time offers opportunity to form an emotional attachment to a time piece.  Quality is the new catch phrase they are moving out of the time where they were killing them selves pumping out high numbers of movements.
