Still looking for that perfect watch, how are Ball watches?  Saw the Ball Hydrocarbon GMT a nice looking watch, but is it worth the price?  The salesman also had some story about a guy's arm being saved from an IED because of the Hydrocarbon, anyone know if that is true?  Thanks.

I used to own a Hydrocarbon and thought it was a nice watch for the money. Fit and finish was very good. The watch wore a bit small and the bezel was very hard to rotate. Other than that, no complaints at all. For about the same money I got far more enjoyment out of my Omega Seamaster and Doxa subs. Just my .02.

By all accounts Ball puts together a first rate watch. But as the Captain stated, there are a lot of great players in the same range. Question is.. do you want the tubes? Don't buy at the AD unless you are getting a substantial discount.

Purchased a ball alligator on ebay papers and all $1100

Absolutely love it. Fit and feel are perfect and for my 6.5" wrist its great. I didn't have room in the 4 slot winder and left it on the dresser. During the night my wife made me get up and turn it around it was bright.

My little secret for ebay. Get someone at beginning of auction and email with an immediate payment offer. Or watch the item and if it doesn't sell make an offer. I recently picked up a Francois Rotier (turbillon) purchased in Basel Switzerland . It was in a huge burled box with receipt for 2800 euros and all paper for $400. People need money now and deals are being made. Be patient! The Alligator is discontinued and other than the madball or diver I wouldn't own another (my preference)

Ehecht..
I don't want to break your great deals dreams about the tourbillon but Francois Rotier is another brand buying his "tourbillons" from China: If they are located in Germany...
Another known seller(who sold subs, explorers 2 and pam homages with 2634-2 mvt who is the most Chinesed-Swiss movements ever...) was selling also very similar tourbillons watches for 450$ on Ebay...
There's no cheap Swiss-made real tourbillons: It just don't exist...
You had a better call on the Ball most likely;)

I got honestly no direct proofs that this F.R company purchase them tourbillons in China but if you search a bit about them on the net, they been allready suspected on other forums: It's just obvious as all tourbillons from China looks the same and as it don't stand any fabrication's land on them site or on them watches.
Don't be fooled by the price: A French guy try to sell tourbillons on Ebay for 4891$ as he claim that they are made in France...But they look very Chinese to me those tourbillons.
Check this manufacturer:http://www.perpetual-watch.com/index.html
Those are the same watches again and again and again, that you will find under many names...All made in the Republic Popular.

without a doubt they are Asian...your'e not going to find a genuine Swiss tourbillion even remotely close to $1450. unless you add a zero and maybe not even then...;)
