The drivers don't wear the watches during the race. Their fireproof suit sleeves are so fit and their hands are so stuck to the steering wheel that they simply can't waste a single moment looking at the time. It's kind of like the professional golfers, with the exception of Phil Mickelson who wears a Rolex (a Celini I think) none of them where the watches they represent but have them on as soon as they are in an interview or something
