I am interested in purchasing a tacuhmeister 1000m or 600m automatic watch. I haven't heard of this manufacturer before. I would like to get comments on qulaity and reliability of tauchmeister. I am very hard on watches so I figured a 1000m or 600m should last me a long time. I also don't want to lose the 1000m or 600m rating by having to change batteries hence the want of an automatic. Or if someone knows of another very good brand for around 125 I would appreciate their input. Trying to get the best value for my money like we all try to do. Thanks for your advice Bigduckd2

I would highly recommend that you consider a Seiko Orange or Black Monster watch in your price range. You didn't mention why you needed the 600m rating, but it is a bit of overkill unless you are going to use it for diving A LOT. The Seiko Monster watches are exceptional with the best lumn on the market short of gas tube watches. They are rugged and backed by a solid company. They are available on a rubber strap or SS bracelet.

When (if) you contact jacky about the Tauchmeister, he should be able to give you a good comparison of Tauchmeister vs Monster as he has both!!! Good luck!

Hi Bigduckd2, Sorry for the late reply. Like I mentioned in my reply in the sales froum of 3T....It all depends on what you want or need. Like mcwright said, one hardly requires a 1000m WR dive watch cos it is very seldom one dives that deep. But of course like I mentioned, I love 1000m WR dive auto watches! The deeper, the more thrilled thaT I wanna get one. This Tauchmeister is a value for money watch. For a watch at its price, there is NO WATCH or BRANDS that is close to it having its features. But if you are not looking at the depth rate, a 200m WR rated watch is more than enough for scuba diving! For this case, I would highly recommend the SEIKO monsters either in Black or Orange. Thier Blue and Yellow are quite expensive. The Black and Orange Monster are the biggest bang for the buck in term of watch, F&F, quality and construction. Please do not listen to those who have bad experience with their monsters, those are MINORITY REPORT! LOL!!! Maybe out of 100 Monsters, there are less than a handful cases that the watch is faulty/not in good working order....etc. I mean even a FERRARI is 100% manufactured flawless! Maybe a month after the purchase you will find it in the workshop. That's just an e.g. So to summarize, if you like 1000m WR depth rating, then go for the Tauchmeister. Don't waste your time on the 600m. The 1000m WR is better! Anyway there is a guy in another forum whom has tested his Tauchmeister 1000m and he said the rating is CORRECT! It is a solid watch with a Miyota(Citizen's movt)! But the bracelet is not included and there is no original bracelet for this as it comes with a rubber strap. There are however aftermarket bracelet for it. But if you are not fascinated with depth rating, I would HIGHLY recommend the SEIKO Black or Orange Monster. Jacky

Hi Jacky Thank you for all the good advice. I was looking at the 1000m because I figured that it would just have to be built stronger inorder to withstand that kind of pressure. As I stated I am extremely tough on watches and I would like to get one that is going to last because I am going to wear it everyday all the time. I also am looking for one that if by chance it were to get lost I wouldn't be sick about it because I just lost a expensive watch. Again thank you for your response and information. If you have any other watch brand/model suggestions please pass them along. Thanks John

Hi John, I am not a diver but I do know some basic things about diving and diver watches. For a watch rated 1000m deep, yes they have strong cases. But also, most of them have a helium release or a built in helium release valve/vent. However, there are many watches rated from 100-300m WR which have strong cases too. SEIKO monsters are one of them. In fact any SEIKO rate 150m WR and above have strong cases. Besides SEIKOs, if you like automatic Swiss movt, the next I would suggest is Oceanaut. To be frank, there are too many watches to be suggested. So we have to zoom in what are your criteria: 1. Price range? 2. Auto or Quartz? 3. Japanese or Swiss movt? 4. Purpose: Diving(if yes how deep?), Daily beater? Diver's Dress style? Those are the basic factors of looking for a watch. Cos a 1000m can be around $150 and also it can be above $2000. Same for a 200-300m, can be $50 to above $2000! Don't worry, maybe you can state down your criteria based on the factors above, the guys here will help you & suggest some nice watches for you. Cos I myself do not know every good watches too! :P Jacky Last edited on Wed Jul 5th, 2006 11:19 am by watchboy |

Hi Jacky I found a automatic Tauchmeister 1000m T44 I liked for 100+ shipping. I didn't really need for depth. I purchased because of hoped durability and water resistance. I hope I am happy when I get it . Again tahnks for your input and help for making what I think was a good choice. Please let me know if you agree. Thanks again John

Do you have a link or pic? Cos some of them are QUARTZ and not automatic! It is not stated in the dial. Be careful.
