I used to read a book called monsters? its not what the title really means. My kids loved it. Of course I also put on classical music for them to sleep by. When they were old enough, they both took up a musical instrument. Piano for one and guitar for the other. My oldest boy wants to take after me and race bikes. I'm on the fence about that one. For as many broken bones, bad knees and surgeries I've had, I'd like to spare him.

I'm sure the music helps. Its pure mathematics there hearing. and they absorb it like a sponge. I think my music teacher called it spacial harmonics.

And exactly how is this polluting his mind? I bet if you get him started reading comics early, with the state of the school systems these days, his reading level at any grade will be several grades above the other kids! I'm not kidding! Barton Paxman wrote: Oy!! Goodnight Moon!! That's still a favorite although I am polluting my 4 year old's mind by reading classic Captain America comics...

You're absolutely right, he is a four year old. Give him a few years then start him on the road of reading with Captain America. And his reading level will be head and shoulders above others.

"My World" was written by the same author; we have Goodnight Moon I read nothing to them now..................I have them read to me...they are both reading at a 6th grade level (ps standards), 4th grade level for their current school....what can really blow your mind away is when your 6-year old K-Schooler (last year) comes across the word reconnaissance and buzzes through it like he's seen it a 1000 x before!

And his reading level will be head and shoulders above others. I think comics are a great idea too. It joins the visual and written. Plus, anything that gets them interested in reading is a good thing. Most boys tend to be a bit bloodthirsty (although I think my daughter might end up being more so than my son!) and comics tend towards some sort of violence, even the mild. If it keeps 'em interested, it's a good thing, IMO!

I say do what most parents do. Sit them in front of the TV, introduce them to the XBox controller, get a baby sitter and ignore them until they graduate.
