Now this is awesome. I had to go look in my watchbox to see if it was the same watch they sent me back :-) Yep it is. Shows what good lighting can do. I have a Sony 10 megapix DSLR but I'm buggered if I can take pics anywhere near this quality. Man I want one of those watches..... hey wait a minute that is my watch...ha, ha, ha. Pete ![]()

Simply put I love that watch!! Interesting hand placement for the shot so as not to obscure anything, too. That is a treasure, Doc.

While it is a nice watch and super desirable, I don't agree that the pic is very good. Sure, it is crisp and detailed, but it makes the case and bracelet look very dull and lifeless. This has been my complaint with Doxa's marketing from the start. You just have to flip through the new HR:Watches mag to see how the competitors photos and marketing outshine Doxa's. I guess the upside is that when a buyer gets the watch, they are always more impressed with the real thing.

I have had a long standing peeve at how they shoot the watches. To me for a watch photo to be esthetically pleasing for an upright front or side view the head of the watch should either be smack bang in the middle of the bracelet or towards the top. For some reason Doxa's photog shoots them with the watch head towards the bottom with more bracelet at the top. It throws off the case to me and make the watch look as if it is pointing down. I mentioned it to Rick and I'm glag to see that he shot my Conq the way I would have. Pete

Hi Doc, I wasn't really comparing the composition or backgrounds, it is the actual watch that bothers me. Your point about the orientation of the watch in the photos with respect to the bracelet is bang on. You put into words something that I have noticed subconsciously but not able to put my finger on. Where my gripe is, is that the case and bracelet look like some sort of grey dull metal, without any life or sheen. The bezel, arguably one of Doxa's finer features, is also not represented well. All in all, if I was using only these marketing shots to make a decision, I'm not sure I would have chosen a Doxa. Luckily, I had your site and dozens of owner's photos to go by, which capture the watch im much more of its true glory. Here is an example of a photo that captures the Doxa sub well... Crackin shot mark and I have to agree with you again. The bezel as you well know has a polished outer ring and brushed inner ring but in my Conq pic at the top of the thread they look to be both polished. I'll try to take a shot of the watch to show it off. Maybe if the photog guy reduced the contrast a bit it may look closer to the reality.

By the way, this is not my shot, just an example I had on my hard drive of a Sub that captures the subtleties of the finish, the grain of the steel, and the shimmer of the rice beads. An advertisement shot like this (sans the Bananas) would sell more watches IMHO. rev_smile.gif Nonetheless, your Conq HRV is a stunning watch, and a Doxaholics dream! p.s. Sony cameras rule.
