My beater that I use for Mountain Biking is a Luminox Quartz chrono, all SS.  But I couldn't spend a week with only that one watch.  I'd have to take something more desirable, even if it is just to look at every day or two to remind me of the finer things.

I don't really believe in babying my watches, unless it is an activity that I am sure will cause damage... like Mountain Biking would on an auto movement (or supposedly so).  For example, I wore my Doxa T-Graph on a recent fishing trip that involves everything from reaching into the bait bucket, to grappling with toothy fish, to collecting firewood, playing horseshoes, drunken stumbles, swimming (sometimes not intentionally) and cooking over an open fire.  The Doxa arrived home in stellar condition, with only a quick refreshing of the clasp with a Scotch pad.

Your Fortis is a brushed finish, therefore all but the bezel is refreshable if the need were to arise.  If the worst happened and you did ding it, consider it a reminder of the wonderful week you spent in the woods with your family.  Character marks.

I voted for the traser (and if you ever wanna flip that one, holler) - but I would throw in another wild card and say grab youself a SUUNTO Xlander, perfect for camping...hand6.gif

I'll be heading out today with both of these in tow!! Seems like a bit of a cop out but I am a WIS and I wanna see what the Fortis is made of... wish me luck... this will be home through Sunday. I hope for no rain because I do not want to be in this small space with my 5 and 3 year olds for any extended period other than sleeping...

Sorry to say although I took both the Fortis and the Traser camping, only the fortis got worn. I just put it on and never took it off. It was great and sturdy while swimming, fishing and just playing. The luminous dial was the shiznit at night and provided enough illimination to navigate buy in zero light. What a great watch and none the worse for wear.

The camping got abreviated due to cold rainy conditons and a family meeting in which everyone said they wanted to leave but me...I believe my wife asked why I was holding them hostage but I was near hallucinating in bizarro world when that gem was delivered. I was glad to bail truth be told...

The highpoint was my five year old son James landing his first fish. He hooked it himself and had it nearly reeled by the time I even noticed. That sure was a great little moment!!

Now zee pix:

If you made it this far I sincerely must thank you for takin' a look...
