Got a fun Orient today from one of last week's daily deals at OrientalWatchSite.com. Pretty painless experience and I picked up a fun sport watch. This a LE to commemorate rally car great Marcus Grohnholm's 2007 World Championship for the Ford/BP team. Mine is 908 of 2007... so take that for what its worth.;)

This watch goes against my typical requirements in that it has the tachymeter and no chrono function (a pet peeve) and a semi-skeletonized dial. Not only that but it is not the ultimate in easy legibility due to the stylized door terminating in the large orange "3", Gronholm's number. So why did I grab it??face4.gif

The answer is simple... to mix things up a bit and get a fun kicker watch unlike anything I currently own. This watch fits those criteria. Not to mention the orange and blue color pattern which I find irresistible on almost any timepiece, a comfy silicon strap with LE blue inserts on the backside and signed keeper. They even marked the usually unimpressive rotor on the movement on this LE.yourock.gif

I am gonna wear it... may be give it to my son if his wrist is big enough though I don't think he's ready for an automatic and hope this LE climbs in value...

Thanks a lot John, Steve, Nick,Scott, Tony and Bill! Since I sold all my Orients I forgot about the great dial work, great lume and super dependable movement.yourock.gif

Steve... never will I go with your Gators! I prefer to think of the color scheme as Caribbean...:D

Little small for you Big Watch Scott at 42mm/45mm w/crown.;)

Tony you are so right about the quality. I had really taken it for granted when remembering my Mako and Beast. These are really well put together mass production pieces.ThumbsUp02.gif

A couple shots showing Gronholm's 2007 WRC Championship Season. You'll note the orange 3 on the car and its relation to the design element on the watch as well as the Orient patch on Gronholm's driving suit.

Cool pix!  I didnt know he drove a Focus ZX3.  I own a ZX3 and love it.  Its a fun little car to drive.  The nice part about it is that even though I am 6 foot 3"  I still have plenty of legroom.  I hope someday to put a turbo kit on mine when I get done with the mods on my truck.:D

Congratulations on the nice new Orient. hand6.gif  Cool idea that you might give it to your son.  I don't blame you for saying it is  Caribbean and not Gator colors, cheers.

Mark, there's nothing wrong with the Orient. It is very well-made, has a great track record as a brand and has good collectibility value. The dial design might be a little difficult, as you said, but if the lume on the hands are powerful, they will compensate for the "confusion".

Wear it in good healthhand6.gifhand6.gifhand6.gif
