A while back I got a bug to build a watch commemorating my grandfather who passed last year. He was a very strong role model for myself and my father, and together we decided to pursue the project for the year anniversary of his death. I found Jeff at Raven and he agreed to take on the project and build 2 identical watches. Here's the result (I have another one identical to it in the box to give to my dad on Thursday). They're both engraved on the back with the same psalm as on his footstone. ![]() Last edited on Tue Aug 11th, 2009 02:37 pm by Seth |

At its core, its a Marathon mod.... stainless steel case, unidirectional bezel, water tight screw down crown and case back. I went with trit vial hands and dial for a real military look. It will be getting a leather band shortly to replace the NATO. The case sits really low and the NATO does nothing for the watch, IMO. The movement is (insert gasp) quartz. My dad, when questioned about movement, said 'You grandfather would've bought the simple, reliable, no fuss version'. Choice made. Thanks for the kind words. Its a different watch than I'm used to, as the case is a little smaller than my others (Omega Seamaster Professional, Seiko Monster, Citizen Skyhawk AT), but I really wanted a more utilitarian style. s>
