The good news: two watches arrived today.

The bad news: one of them is not working...

I got an Invicta 6016, that is REALLY nice. Much nicer looking than the 8926 I got a couple of weeks ago (and that I was not sure it was a keeper. Now I am sure it is not). The bezel is stunning and works flawlessly, the movement is beautifully decorated. IMHO, the Miyota in the 8926 might be a workhorse, but it is ugly as sin. Better have it on a non-exhibition caseback. The date magnifier actually works. And probably the flame fusion crystal will last unscratched longer. It has more personality, as it is does look as a cross between a YachtMaster a SeaMaster (dialwise) instead of just a copy of one watch.

I believe that it migh be difficult to get a nicer watch for what I paid (a bit north of U$ 50...). One think I do not understand is the design choice of a non-screwed crown. Another thing I do not understand is how it gets the same 200m rating without it.

I am currently timing the movement accuracy (8926's Miyota was + 20, compared to +3 to +4 for my Gevril's 2824-2).

The other one is a Golana Aqua 200. Really nice looking. But it does not work and the crown-quick date change feature does not work either (anyone had the same problem with an ETA quartz movement?). If I adjust the time and go past midnight, the date changes, though.

So, mixed feelings :(... The problem also is that I am in Santiago, Chile, and the watch was purchased from the USA and shipped to a PO box system I use, so pretty far away and complex.

Although I am not 100% in the mood, I guess that getting new watches and not sharing would show bad manners. So here we go...

Congrats on your watches.  Sorry to hear about your DOA.  Hopefully you can get it taken care of.  What is the movement in the Invicta?

I think it is a Seiko movement with an Invicta-designed rotor.

I would think the Invicta has the Miyota movement at 21 jewels per the rotor. Sorry to hear you received a DOA. Enjoy your new watches.:D

As per what I read somewhere, looks like it is a Seiko NH25A movement. It is non-hacking, non manual winding.

Also, one of the reasons why it looks much nicer than the 8026 is because of a 43mm case v/s a 40mm. Bracelet is 20mm, but links are thicker and longer.

Got in touch with the dealer that provided the Golana, I do not think I could get a nicer answer and better willingness to solve the issue:

" I am really sorry to hear that there seems to be a problem with your watch. It is very difficult to diagnose a problem, without actually seeing the watch. As per your email, I would suggest that you take it into a local watch shop and have them take a look at this. If it turns out that this watch is in fact defective, we will cover all costs of having the watch returned to us, and either issue a refund, or replace the watch for you."

I think you'll enjoy the 6016, I recently purchased a 6019 and I like it! The only nit-picky complaint I have is that the crown doesn't screw down.

I used the 6016 it today for the afternoon after sizing the bracelet. Really comfortable and neat looking. Besides the screw-down crown, I would change the clasp. The bracelet ends are crappy, but just when looked from the back.

As a plus, the first 24 hours were +8 seconds, which is far better than what I expected. The Miyota on the 8926 is @ +20. Will see how it goes.

A question on that, are automatic watches supposed to run faster or slower after "settling in"?

Took the Golana to the local shop, and it is dead indeed. So I am waiting for instructions to send it back to the North... Hope I get the replacement soon.
