I've been mildly interested in some of the offerings from LumTec. They sure do glow!. When I saw this c1 languishing on a sales forum I thought I would take a chance despite the watch's diminutive diameter of 38mm.

I admired the simple clean no nonsense design on the watch as well as it having a "rare" twin barrel Slava movement which has been reworked. The C-1 landed today and I have to say I am not disappointed and am quite pleased with the watch.

There's not too much to tell. You can see the watch is the definition of efficient with a highly legible dial and high visibility hands. The black of the dial is very deep and looks bottomless with the heavy AR on the sapphire crystal. The PVD bezel and crown are perfect and make for a nice accent. The Slava is automatic and handwinding but not hackable. It runs at a leisurely 18000 bph and is a joy to watch as the seconds hand tracks around the dial. It emits the most delicious tick I've heard for some time. I'll check time keeping and give and update.

The C1 comes on a simple no frills bracelet with a single push button deployant clasp. I would have liked another couple more micro adjustments but opted to add a link and wear it a bit loose. More micro adjustments or half-links would have helped get the perfect fit on my very average 7.25 wrist. The bracelet is sturdy and comfortable with a nicely brushed finish which matches the watch case. I'm not a NATO guy but this one sort of screams for a Bond imho.

So overall a very unique watch imho and one I am happy to have picked up at an excellent price on the secondary market. I am certain the 38mm case makes this watch anathema to many of our big watch aficionados, but the design allow the aviation style dial and hands to really pop and show much bigger then the 38mm. I have to admit to being impressed with the watch and indeed the whole package which is really top notch. I'll be looking at LumTec's upcoming ETA powered release...
