Rado Diastar 35mm x 42mm I think it has a Ceramic case, a Stainless bracelet and a Titanium Clasp. Of course it is an automatic, with faceted Sapphire Cristal, and that all important day & date. It is a very nice watch with a history that is to long to mention, but since I started using a search engine last week I am finding is easily accessible. ![]() I will actually wear this watch a lot, due to its size and comfort. Years of rock climbing have left my wrists small and lean, a lot of watches are not comfortable. Compound that with frost bite on my left hand only makes it worse. Looks great! I've been thinking of getting a blue dialed one since I picked up a used silver dialed one a couple of months ago. As I understand it, these come in three sized, including a 38mm width. It's funny: the one I got have a heavily scratched and gouged stainless steel bracelet (now polished) and caseback, yet the ceramic covered upper case and sapphire crystal were utterly pristine. I was told by a rep from Rado, that their ceramic cases rate a 9 on the Mohs scale of hardness-- the same as sapphire!

I was looking at these with interest until I handled them a few weeks back when I was in Milwaukee. After wearing such big watches these seemed a bit small. I'm not a huge guy but do have a 7.25 wrist whcih I think is fairly average. The diver seemed better for me at 38.5mm but the store would only discount 10% off the $1300 list. I would've snagged it at a 25% discount because I love the design on these pieces. I am also not sure I can wrap my mind around the facetted crystal. I am undecided at this point and still remain interested in the diver along with the new BALL diver. Both have greenish color schemes which appeal to my lact of taste. Eric, the watch does look great on you and i do like the others I've seen posted here. Everthing old is new again... Enjoy the watch!! I'll be interested to see how the case holds up to dingers. The salesman at the store told me it was not scratch resistant as it was stainless steel to which I replied that I thought RADO was famed for developing scratch resistant cases...the was met with a blank expression... May be its the uninformed retail outlets in Wisconsin that are bothering me. I've seen the diver on the Bay for half of list... got another watch gig in September... RADO Diver? BALL Diver MKII Blackwater (12 weeks wait) Ugh!! Pax Last edited on Thu Jul 6th, 2006 07:25 pm by Paxman |

I think the Diastar cases are actuallly tungsten carbide, not ceramic like the newer designs. At least the original models were. Who cares though, it looks like it holds up great. Congrats on your new watch, I would love to own one myself.

For what it is worth it says Scratch proof on the case. I think this is the latest model out of Basel looks just like the last just diff. Model #. How they changed it I do not know. Could be tungsten my friends is Ceramic but forgot to ask about this one, hell to tell you the Truth I did not know what I was picking up only that it was a Rado. My buddy said trust me, and we wound up telling war stories over dinner, and had my daughters look at us like why would you do that stuff.
