As you all know I have talked about a vintage divers since start of 2008. And now its ready. In fact we have chosen to go with the vintage submariner. The case will be: a. 38mm b. No crown guard ( think Ref. 5508 submariners) c. Domed sapphire for vintage looks d. Rotating bezel e. ETA 2824-2 f. Non-date for that authentic vintage looks. The case and the rivet bracelet are all done as we speak. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now we need to know which dial everyone likes. There are a couple of dials I have in mind which are also used in vintage subbies. 1. Vintage submariner dial (Ref. 5513, 5512, 1680) 2. Modern Submariner dial with white-gold surround (Ref. 14060) 3. Submariner dial with railway track ( Ref. 5508) 4. Explorer 1 looks with railway track (ala Ref. 1016) Warmest Regards Anders

Not a choice, but the Rolex 5517 is the sweetest. No date with the sword hands is the best.

Tough choices on the dial. What worries me is the small case diameter.face4.gif

I think it is a great idea, however, I agree with Pax, personally I am in the process of selling off all my sub 42mm sized watches, at 38mm I'm not sure of the interest it would generate.....IMHO

Would love one that models after the rolex explorer 1 (1016)! I would also prefer one with a bigger dial :) 44mm would be great

I'll echo a couple of others re the size. After wearing 40mm and above for so long, 38mm may seem a tad small. Kinda like this text... Jim

At the risk of being the only dissenting voice, I am ALL for the 38mm size, on a good, solid bracelet that isn't too chunky. I'm not good with the model numbers, but the Rolex Subs with no crown-guards have a great look. I'd be really interested to see how this stays away from the vintage Rolex look, but still a good tip of the hat to those good ol days. I'm not so much fussed about the dial, after all, how many permutations can one come up with. That being said, I'd like to see different hand designs that depart from the usual Plongeur or Mercedes hands. That'd be nice to see. Surprise us, Anders!
